China’s automotive exhibition calendar serves several different industries under one familiar label. A motor show built around complete vehicles and new-model launches does not answer the same questions as an export-focused parts fair, an intelligent-vehicle technology exhibition or a motorcycle show. The first useful decision is therefore not which event is the largest, but what the trip must produce.
China’s automotive calendar divides into four buyer routes: complete vehicles and market launches; parts and aftermarket sourcing; automotive technology and specialised mobility; and motorcycles, bicycles or light electric vehicles. The Guangzhou Auto Show and Auto Shanghai lead complete-vehicle benchmarking. Automechanika Shanghai provides the broadest aftermarket reference, while specialist technology, commercial-vehicle and two-wheeler shows become useful only when those categories define the trip.
This guide compares 17 editions scheduled from 2 August 2026 to 20 June 2027, retaining the four completed August fairs for context and supplier follow-up. It explains which events are alternatives, where a specialist route justifies a separate trip and when regional timing changes the choice. Rail, maritime, aviation and conference-only events remain outside the comparison because their buyer teams and supplier questions are materially different.

Four automotive markets, four supplier searches
The events fall into four working groups. The groups are more useful than a single ranking because a strong show in one group may be almost irrelevant to another buyer.
Complete vehicles and market direction
The Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition and Auto Shanghai are the clearest choices for comparing complete vehicles, brand strategy, new-energy models and the direction of China’s automotive market. Both include supply-chain and technology content, but their main value is broader than component sourcing: they show how manufacturers are positioning vehicles, platforms and mobility technologies.
The Guangzhou event runs from 27 November to 6 December 2026 for complete vehicles. Its official schedule gives the automotive supply-chain programme a shorter 27–30 November window. Auto Shanghai follows from 23 April to 2 May 2027 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. These dates make the two shows alternatives in an annual benchmarking plan, not a combined trip.
A distributor evaluating complete vehicles should arrive with destination-market questions already defined: vehicle class, left- or right-hand drive, homologation route, charging standard, spare-parts policy, warranty support and the commercial structure for after-sales service. A visit centred only on new-model displays may reveal product direction without answering whether a vehicle programme can be imported and supported.
Parts and aftermarket sourcing
The parts calendar is more crowded because the shows serve different combinations of manufacturers, distributors, repair networks, modification channels and technology suppliers.
The completed August 2026 sequence began with APES in Shanghai on 5 August. The organiser presents it as a source-factory platform covering engine, chassis, electrical, body, filtration, commercial-vehicle and new-energy components. CAPAFAIR’s 12–14 August Ningbo edition offered parts, electronics, accessories, repair and processing equipment, with a deliberate export orientation. AAG’s 19–21 August Guangzhou programme shifted the focus to South China, with zones for commercial-vehicle parts, replacement parts, remanufacturing, new energy and customising.
The Yiwu Auto and Motorcycle Parts Fair adds a 12–14 September 2026 option at Yiwu International Expo Center for replacement parts and accessories. Use the fair for supplier and application discussions; a separate visit to the automotive section of International Trade City District 5 can help with accessory assortments and replenishment questions. That is a trading-market comparison, not a factory qualification visit. The Yiwu fair-and-market sourcing article explains when the extra stop is useful.
CAPF in Jinan on 20–22 October adds a northern-China option for replacement parts, maintenance supplies and workshop tools. It is distinct from CAPAFAIR Ningbo. The CAPF parts-and-diagnostic-tools article explains a local dealer follow-up for buyers who need workshop equipment as well as parts.
Automechanika Shanghai in December is a broader ecosystem. Its parts and components offer sits alongside diagnostics, workshop equipment, repair, services, electronics, customising and mobility technology. CIMP in March is broader again in another direction: it joins the aftermarket with modification, vehicle technology, commercial vehicles, recreational vehicles, camping products and automotive culture. CIAAR should be treated as a specialist complement for air-conditioning and thermal management, not as a substitute for a full parts fair. The CIAAR electric-bus sourcing article develops that specialist brief and a separately arranged supplier meeting.
Buyers who need the detailed differences between these events can use the dedicated China Auto Parts & Aftermarket Trade Shows 2026–2027 guide.
Intelligent vehicles and specialised road transport
Automotive World China is the most focused event in this guide for intelligent-vehicle engineering. Its official profile centres on automotive electronics, intelligent cockpits, autonomous driving, connected systems and NEV technologies, making it more relevant to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 suppliers, engineering teams and technical-procurement teams than to a distributor seeking routine replacement parts.
WAMEE also uses the language of autonomous mobility, but its buyer problem is different. It is a specialist part of the China International Logistics and Supply Chain Fair and covers unmanned logistics vehicles, warehouse robots, new-energy specialist vehicles and supporting technologies. It belongs in a logistics automation plan, not in a passenger-car benchmarking itinerary.
CIBE concentrates on buses and coaches, including complete vehicles, electric and hydrogen systems, components, charging infrastructure and intelligent transport. It becomes relevant when the buyer represents a public-transport operator, fleet, bus importer or commercial-vehicle supply chain. The fact that it takes place in Shanghai one week after Automechanika can help a team with both aftermarket and bus-system workstreams, but the second event should have its own meetings and technical brief.
Motorcycles, bicycles and electric two-wheelers
The two-wheeler group contains four events with distinct centres of gravity.
The Yiwu Bicycle, E-bike & Parts Expo combines complete bicycles and e-bikes with components, accessories and Zhejiang manufacturing resources. Its 2–4 August 2026 edition has ended; it is a separate event from September’s Yiwu Auto and Motorcycle Parts Fair. CIMAMotor in Chongqing is a substantially broader motorcycle event covering complete motorcycles, new-energy models, core parts, accessories, maintenance products, technologies and services. The South China fair in June focuses on electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, batteries, motors, controllers, charging and battery-swapping equipment, production systems and riding accessories.
CHINA CYCLE 2027 runs from 5 to 8 May at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. It brings complete bicycles and electric-assist products together with components, accessories and cycling equipment. Choose it when the task is to compare a bicycle range or the parts behind it; keep complete-bike configurations and component-only requirements separate. A company meeting can follow if it resolves a specific range or distribution question, as explained in the Shanghai bicycle supplier-meeting article. This is not an automatic factory-tour programme.
They should not be treated as four versions of the same show. A bicycle importer, a motorcycle distributor and an electric two-wheeler component buyer may share questions about motors, batteries or export markets, but vehicle classification, technical requirements, regulation and after-sales needs differ. The correct starting point is the target vehicle category, not the word “electric”.
Four periods create different planning choices
August 2026: a completed sourcing window
The August calendar ran almost continuously from the Yiwu bicycle fair on 2–4 August to APES Shanghai on 5–7 August, CAPAFAIR Ningbo on 12–14 August and AAG Guangzhou on 19–21 August. This offered a possible multi-city programme, especially for a buyer covering both light mobility and auto parts. All four editions have ended; retain them as supplier-follow-up references, not as a trip still available in 2026.
It was also a demanding route. Yiwu, Shanghai and Ningbo offered a coherent East China sequence when each stop had a separate supplier list and factory follow-up plan. Guangzhou added another region and another week. The selection lesson remains useful: buyers with a narrow component brief may get more evidence from two well-planned fairs plus supplier meetings than from a four-show programme. A future route needs newly confirmed edition dates.
September and October: parts, motorcycles or vehicle engineering
Yiwu’s auto and motorcycle parts fair on 12–14 September serves a replacement-parts and accessory brief. CIMAMotor follows on 19–22 September in Chongqing with complete motorcycles and a broader motorcycle supply chain. The close dates do not make them a routine combined trip: choose by product category, and add the second city only when it has its own supplier list and confirmed meetings.
In October, CAPF in Jinan on 20–22 October serves aftermarket purchasing, while Automotive World China in Shenzhen on 27–29 October serves vehicle engineering. Their proximity on the calendar does not make a two-city itinerary useful unless the team genuinely has both assignments.
Late November and December: three overlapping choices
The Guangzhou Auto Show, Automechanika Shanghai and WAMEE overlap from 2 to 4 December. Their common automotive language disguises three different trips:
- Guangzhou is primarily for complete vehicles, brands and market direction;
- Shanghai is for parts, aftermarket services, workshops and automotive technology;
- Shenzhen is for autonomous logistics and specialist mobility equipment.
Travelling between them is justified only when a team has separate decision-makers and confirmed meetings. CIBE begins in Shanghai on 9 December, making it a more realistic addition to Automechanika for a buyer with a genuine bus or fleet workstream.
March to June 2027: four distinct missions
CIMP in March provides a broad Shenzhen ecosystem around aftermarket products, modification, vehicle technology and commercial or recreational vehicles. Auto Shanghai, from 23 April to 2 May, is the stronger choice for complete-vehicle and market benchmarking. CHINA CYCLE on 5–8 May adds a Shanghai bicycle and component-sourcing window. The South China electric-vehicle fair in June is a focused electric two-wheeler and component sourcing event.
Auto Shanghai and CHINA CYCLE are close in time, but serve different buying briefs and use different Shanghai venues: the National Exhibition and Convention Center and Shanghai New International Expo Centre respectively. Staying for both makes sense only when complete-vehicle benchmarking and bicycle sourcing are separate, genuine tasks. CIMP in March and the South China fair in June remain separate travel decisions, not stops on one spring route.
Prepare a category-specific brief before travel
The same generic supplier checklist will not work across all four groups.
For auto parts, prepare vehicle applications, original-equipment (OE) or cross-reference numbers where appropriate, materials, performance requirements, expected annual volume, packaging, warranty handling and the fitment data needed by the sales channel. Clarify whether the supplier owns the manufacturing process and tooling or coordinates production elsewhere.
For complete vehicles, define destination-market approval requirements, steering configuration, charging and connector standards, software and language needs, spare-parts coverage, technician training and after-sales responsibilities before discussing a distribution programme.
For batteries and electric two-wheelers, record the intended vehicle classification, battery chemistry and pack configuration, battery management system (BMS) and charger requirements, range and load assumptions, required test documents and transport documentation. These questions need product documents and technical follow-up; a visible model at a stand is only the beginning.
For intelligent or autonomous systems, the brief should identify the operating environment, vehicle interface, sensor and compute architecture, data and software responsibilities, update process, validation evidence and integration partner. WAMEE’s logistics vehicles and Automotive World China’s passenger-vehicle technologies may use related components while solving different operating problems.
