“Consumer electronics” can describe a retail-ready speaker, an AI-enabled appliance, a wearable still looking for a market, or a complete extended-reality (XR) installation combining hardware, optics, software and content. Those products may share chips and factories, but buyers do not discover or evaluate them in the same way.
The eight exhibitions fall into two markets. For market-ready product sourcing, choose among consumer electronics, computer accessories and gaming at Global Sources Phase 1; mobile accessories and smart devices at Phase 2; branded products and emerging technology alongside finished electronics at HKTDC; or the wider export-category and private-label choice at Canton Fair Phase 1. For emerging hardware and partnership scouting, Qingdao’s CICE provides a system-and-application view; the Guangzhou immersive-technology fair and Hangzhou AI Terminal Expo serve narrower projects where product maturity, software responsibility and deployability matter more than catalogue size.
Eight exhibitions do not mean eight trips. They occupy five broad calendar blocks: the now-ended September window in Qingdao, an overlapping 11–21 October programme in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, the Hong Kong spring fair in April 2027, and two separate specialist windows in May. Within October, start with the fair that best fits the product brief; a second venue or cross-border leg needs to add useful supplier meetings, not simply another open show.

What belongs in this guide—and what does not
This guide starts with the finished device or deployable smart-hardware system. The buyer may be a retailer, distributor, brand owner, product team, system operator or investor examining a product category. The commercial questions include customer use, product maturity, differentiation, target price, customisation, compliance, channel fit and the manufacturing responsibility behind the offer.
It does not try to replace an electronic-components or production-equipment guide. A team whose unresolved task is a processor, PCB stack-up, SMT line or factory automation system should use the China electronics manufacturing, components and PCB guide. Those upstream decisions can follow a promising product, but they are not the starting point here.
The scope also excludes telecom-infrastructure shows, general lighting and professional AV events, security systems and digital-entertainment conferences unless the purchasing mission is specifically for a finished consumer or commercial device. “Smart technology” on an event label is not enough to make every technology exhibition a consumer-electronics fair.
September 2026: CICE for a broad view of connected consumer technology
China International Consumer Electronics Expo has run since 2001, and the organiser scheduled its 22nd edition for 4–6 September 2026 at Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center’s Hongdao venue, hosted by the Shandong Provincial Government. That calendar window has now ended; its positioning remains useful for understanding this market and following up supplier contacts. The organiser’s announced 2026 scope covers smart home appliances, artificial intelligence, low-altitude technology, connected new-energy vehicles, smart health, new displays, virtual reality and acoustic technology.
CICE connects products into living and mobility systems
CICE is most distinctive when a buyer wants to see how product categories are converging. A smart appliance may connect to home energy, voice or visual interfaces and after-sales data. A display may sit inside a vehicle, health device or immersive system. AI may appear in a terminal, a robot or a service layer rather than as a stand-alone product.
Qingdao also gives the event a credible appliance context. The show is therefore relevant to appliance and smart-home brands, distributors studying connected product ecosystems, product teams looking at display and acoustic integration, and companies exploring intelligent health or mobility interfaces.
This system view is different from a catalogue-first sourcing fair. A buyer looking for hundreds of comparable low- to mid-volume export models may work more efficiently in Hong Kong or Guangzhou. CICE becomes more valuable when the question concerns product direction, technology convergence, Chinese brands or partnerships across several devices and services.
Prepare a use case, not only a product keyword
For smart-home and appliance meetings, describe the household or commercial environment, user roles, connection method, interoperability, data location, app responsibility, installation, maintenance and expected service life. Ask which functions remain available without cloud access and who supports the software after shipment.
For health, mobility or low-altitude products, add the operating environment, user safety, accuracy, applicable market rules and responsibility for updates or remote operation. A visually impressive prototype may still be at a different readiness level from a product with stable hardware, completed certification and an established support route.
October 2026: choose the Global Sources phase by product range
Both Global Sources phases take place at AsiaWorld-Expo, but they serve different product searches. The shared venue is not a reason to stay for both: Phase 1 ends on 14 October and Phase 2 starts on 18 October, leaving three intervening days without either phase.
Phase 1: consumer electronics, computer accessories and gaming
The 11–14 October programme includes audio and video, computer accessories, power and charging products, and gaming. It is a useful starting point for an importer comparing finished models for an established sales channel or discussing private-label versions. Gaming and computer-peripheral buyers should let the intended platform and customer segment determine which suppliers to meet.
HKTDC can add branded distribution or emerging-technology meetings to that visit, particularly through its Hall of Fame, Tech Hall and Startup Zone. These are search priorities, not exclusive supplier categories: Global Sources is not only private-label manufacturing, and HKTDC is not only brands. Compare the actual shortlists before adding a second fair. The Global Sources Phase 1–HKTDC electronics trip develops the two-venue choice and meeting preparation.
Phase 2: mobile accessories, wearables and supported smart devices
The 18–21 October programme is the closer fit when the range centres on mobile devices, cases, charging accessories, wearables, smart-home or lifestyle electronics. AI-integrated products also feature, but a device advertised with AI still needs a clear user task and an identified party responsible for its app, updates and service.
Choose Phase 2 over an earlier October visit when those mobile and connected-product suppliers are the main objective. A gift or lifestyle importer may also need packaging and non-electronic items around a selected device; the Global Sources Phase 2 smart-gift sourcing trip examines that narrower extension. It is optional deeper reading, not another required stop in this electronics calendar.
October 2026: HKTDC for market-ready products and emerging brands
The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its current feature areas include Hall of Fame, Tech Hall, Startup Zone, RoboPark and immersive-experience content. Finished consumer and home electronics, AV, wearables, robotics, smart mobility and connected devices appear beside younger technology companies at different stages of market readiness.
The completed 2025 Autumn Electronics Fair and concurrent electronicAsia attracted about 60,000 industry buyers from 142 countries and regions. That international reach makes Hong Kong particularly useful for distributors, retail buyers and brands that want to compare products designed for export markets rather than only view domestic technology demonstrations.
Test whether the offer is ready for a commercial channel
A retail-ready discussion should establish the exact product model, current production status, available samples, target and existing markets, MOQ, packaging, branding options, certifications, warranty, spare units, repair route, firmware and app ownership, and the languages already supported. Separate an exhibited prototype from the model that will actually be quoted and shipped.
For a startup or emerging product, the decision may be partnership rather than immediate purchase. Clarify whether the company is seeking a distributor, development customer, manufacturing partner, licensing route or investment. Ask what has already been built, tested, certified and delivered, and which milestones still depend on funding or external engineering.
The fair runs alongside electronicAsia. When a promising device depends on a critical battery, wireless module, display, power supply, sensor or PCB route, the upstream hall can help the buyer understand design ownership and supply risk without changing venues. The Hong Kong finished-product and component sourcing plan develops that two-fair workflow in detail.
October 2026: Canton Fair Phase 1 for export breadth and category buying
The Canton Fair was founded in 1957. Its organiser describes it as China’s comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, largest scale and broadest product variety. Phase 1 is its industrial and technology-heavy period, and the official October 2026 categories include household electrical appliances, consumer electronics and information products, electronic and electrical products, service robots, industrial automation, new energy, vehicles and many other sectors.
For this guide, the value lies in the dedicated electronics and appliance sections—not in trying to treat the whole first phase as one smart-hardware exhibition. A buyer can compare broad model ranges, export positioning, private-label options and adjacent categories in one very large supplier market.
Use the fair for range architecture and export execution
Canton Fair is well suited to an importer building a category: for example small appliances across entry, mid and premium price positions; audio products for several retail channels; or connected-home devices that need compatible non-smart products and packaging. The breadth helps a buyer compare visible construction, features, model families, branding and commercial terms across many suppliers.
Before visiting, define the category tree, target market, price position, must-have and optional functions, annual demand, certification and packaging requirements. Use one note format for supplier legal name, model, quoted configuration, MOQ, delivery, branding, documents and next action. Without a controlled route, the fair’s size can turn product discovery into a collection of unrelated catalogues.
Some electronics can be assessed through operation and sample inspection at the booth. Claims involving safety, battery performance, radio, energy efficiency, durability, waterproofing, app security or long-term software support need documentation and later testing. The Canton Fair Phase 1 Pearl River Delta sourcing guide explains how to connect the fair to specialist alternatives and supplier follow-up.
Can Hong Kong and Canton Fair form one sourcing trip?
Yes, but choose the product-led route before booking. Global Sources Phase 1 and HKTDC overlap on 13–14 October; HKTDC and Canton Fair Phase 1 overlap on 15–16 October; Global Sources Phase 2 and Canton Fair Phase 1 overlap on 18–19 October. Four October fairs create alternatives and possible combinations, not an instruction to visit all four.
The two Hong Kong venues also need separate time: Global Sources uses AsiaWorld-Expo in the airport area, while HKTDC uses the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Hong Kong and Guangzhou are connected by high-speed rail, yet a cross-border transfer consumes part of a working day once hotel changes, station travel and fair registration are included. Check each organiser’s visitor entry arrangements and the current transport information; neither a shared badge across organisers nor an inter-show shuttle should be assumed.
One buyer: lead with the more important fair
A consumer-electronics or gaming buyer can prioritise Global Sources Phase 1 on 11–14 October, then add a focused HKTDC day on 15 or 16 October if the shortlist justifies it. On the overlapping 13–14 October dates, reserve a substantial block at the more important venue rather than splitting both visits into fragments.
For an HKTDC–Canton Fair route, a finished-electronics buyer can spend 13–14 October at HKTDC, travel on the evening of the 14th or after selected meetings on the 15th, then use the remaining Canton Fair days in Guangzhou. This works when HKTDC is used for a focused shortlist and Guangzhou for a larger category scan.
The reverse route is possible but adds two cross-border transfers: attend Canton Fair on 15 October, travel to Hong Kong that evening, hold pre-arranged meetings on HKTDC’s final day, then return to Guangzhou for 17–19 October. It is practical only when the HKTDC meetings are already confirmed.
A mobile-accessory or smart-device buyer can instead use Canton Fair on 15–17 October, transfer, and prioritise Global Sources Phase 2 from 18 October. Staying at Canton Fair through 19 October leaves only 20–21 October for Phase 2; choose that later arrival only if key suppliers can still meet. Where appliances and broader export categories add little to the brief, a Phase 2-only trip may be the better use of time.
A team: divide product and upstream work
With two capable decision-makers, one group can remain at HKTDC for finished products, startups and the concurrent electronicAsia route while another begins in Guangzhou with appliances, consumer electronics and electrical products on 15–16 October. On 18–19 October, a mobile-device team can work at Global Sources Phase 2 while an appliance team finishes Canton Fair. Both groups need the same product brief, note structure and decision rules; otherwise the combined trip produces two incompatible shortlists.
The broader role of Canton Fair among China’s multi-sector events is covered separately in the China comprehensive trade-show guide. The October combination in this article remains focused on consumer electronics and smart hardware.
April 2027: a later Hong Kong window for finished products
The Spring Electronics Fair runs on 13–16 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is an alternative when a product range, launch brief or distribution decision is not ready for October—not a necessary repeat visit. Its brand and startup focus can support either finished-product purchasing or partnership discussions; check the actual exhibitor shortlist rather than assume the autumn mix returns.
Do not assume October’s electronicAsia pairing is available in spring; plan any component sourcing separately. Electronica Shanghai runs on 14–16 April and addresses upstream components, so it overlaps rather than follows this fair. Product buyers should normally stay with the finished-device mission; a team with a genuine component requirement can split responsibilities using the manufacturing guide linked above.
May 2027: Guangzhou for XR hardware and complete immersive systems
The organiser currently lists the 2027 VR/AR/XR/MR Industry and Smart Glasses Expo for 10–12 May at the Canton Fair Complex. Its scope extends from headsets and smart glasses to optics, displays, tracking, interaction devices, engines, software, content production and applications in entertainment, education, training, tourism and industry.
That full stack is why the event deserves its own route. An XR buyer may be sourcing a retail device, but may instead need a location-based entertainment system, training installation, educational lab or tourism experience. Those projects combine hardware, content, space, user throughput, operation and maintenance.
Define the deployment before comparing headsets
For a headset or smart-glasses product, define the intended user experience, optical and interaction basis, compute and power limits, fit, content platform and the evidence behind claimed performance. Separate measured specifications from nominal values or results that depend on software configuration.
For a deployment, define the space, network, concurrent users, operating model, content rights, installation and support responsibility. A consumer headset and a ten-user attraction can use similar display technology while representing entirely different purchases.
The final exhibitor and programme lists should determine the length of the trip. This is a specialist fair: it is valuable when XR or smart glasses are the actual project, but it does not replace Hong Kong or Canton Fair for a broad consumer-electronics range.
May 2027: Hangzhou for AI terminals and the device-to-model stack
Hangzhou International AI Terminal Industry Expo is scheduled for 27–29 May at Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center. The organiser plans a 15,000-square-metre event for AI phones, PCs, tablets, all-in-one model appliances, wearables, imaging devices, whole-home products, industrial terminals and other new devices. Its upstream scope includes chips, memory, boards, servers, cloud platforms, models and algorithm frameworks.
This creates a different question from a conventional consumer-electronics fair: where does the intelligence run, what does the device do locally, and which company remains responsible for the model, data and service after the hardware is sold?
Separate an AI feature from an AI product responsibility
For each terminal, define the actual user task, input data, on-device and cloud functions, response time, offline behaviour, model and software owner, update method, account or subscription, data retention, privacy controls and expected support period. Ask which claims have been tested on the exact production hardware and in the target language.
The same product may depend on compute, memory, thermal design, battery and connectivity choices. Component discussions are useful when they explain performance or supply continuity, but a product buyer still needs one party to own integration, certification, application software, security updates and customer support.
The 2027 event is a planned platform rather than a long-established export fair. The final exhibitor directory will matter more than the broad category list. Buyers should confirm whether the published companies include actual terminal brands, OEM/ODM manufacturers and deployable products—not only technology providers, research bodies and local-development organisations—before fixing a multi-day trip.
What to prepare before meeting suppliers
Start with the user and market: target customer, use environment, channel, price position, competing product, required languages, annual volume and launch date. Then define the product configuration, variants, accessories, packaging, branding, certification, warranty and after-sales route.
Create a short evidence ladder. A booth demonstration can establish product concept and visible operation. A controlled sample can support performance, usability and compatibility checks. Reports and certificates address specific compliance claims. Pilot orders test production configuration and documentation. Supplier and factory follow-up establishes who owns design, manufacturing, software, quality and service.
For connected products, record app and cloud responsibility, data location, account model, APIs, security updates, offline functions and support period. For AI or XR products, add model or content rights, compute requirements, latency, language performance and the operational conditions under which the demonstration was achieved.
A useful trip should leave the buyer with a small number of clearly defined product opportunities and the evidence still needed to move each one forward.
