Canton Fair Phase 1 2026: Electronics Alternatives and a Pearl River Delta Supplier Route

Decide when Canton Fair Phase 1, Hong Kong Electronics Fair or Guzhen Lighting Fair fits the buying mission, then plan focused supplier follow-up in South China.

Canton Fair Phase 1 brings several sourcing missions into one venue: consumer electronics, appliances, electrical equipment, manufacturing machinery, vehicles and parts. That breadth is its advantage, but it also makes a generic “visit factories after the fair” plan unreliable. The right extension depends on which product family brought the buyer to Guangzhou.

How to choose the right route

Choose Canton Fair Phase 1 when the brief spans several categories, when the supplier market is still being mapped or when an importer wants to compare export-ready vendors at scale. For a consumer-electronics-only mission, the overlapping HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) is a credible alternative, not a sensible same-trip addition: its dates overlap Phase 1. For a lighting-focused brief, Guzhen Lighting Fair starts after Phase 1 and can form a realistic specialist extension.

After the show, select one Pearl River Delta supply chain. Shenzhen and Dongguan fit electronics and electromechanical work; Foshan fits appliances; Zhongshan/Guzhen fits lighting. Trying to cover all four turns a sourcing week into a transport schedule.

What Phase 1 is designed to do

The 140th Canton Fair — Phase 1 runs from 15 to 19 October 2026 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Its published categories include electronics and appliances, industrial automation and manufacturing equipment, power and electrical equipment, vehicles, parts, motorcycles, hardware and tools, and new-energy products.

This makes Phase 1 a strong first filter. Buyers can see product breadth, export presentation, indicative positioning and the people assigned to international business. It is less suited to proving production ownership, engineering change control, testing capacity or the real factory behind a trading entity. Those questions belong in scheduled follow-up.

Canton Fair or Hong Kong Electronics Fair?

HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) 2026 runs from 13 to 16 October in Hong Kong. It overlaps the opening of Canton Fair Phase 1, so treating both as a convenient double-show itinerary would sacrifice important days at one or both events.

The Hong Kong fair is the clearer alternative when the task is concentrated on finished consumer electronics, smart products, connected devices, robotics or technology-led product discovery. Canton Fair is stronger when the buying list extends beyond electronics to appliances, electrical products, machinery, hardware or vehicles.

The decision should therefore follow the purchase brief:

  • choose Hong Kong for a focused electronics assortment and technology discovery;
  • choose Canton Fair Phase 1 for multi-category comparison and a larger pool of general export suppliers;
  • splitting the team becomes practical when each group has its own shortlist, meetings and authority to make decisions.

When Guzhen belongs in the same trip

China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair 2026 is scheduled for 22–25 October in Zhongshan, after Phase 1 closes. Its organiser describes a main venue connected with specialist sub-venues and product coverage spanning decorative, residential, commercial, outdoor and smart lighting, LED technology, machinery and components.

This extension fits buyers with lighting clearly included in the purchase brief. Its value comes from the concentration of suppliers in a lighting production and trading cluster, rather than simply adding another hall. A buyer can move from broad discovery in Guangzhou to deeper comparison of fixtures, drivers, components, smart controls and manufacturing capability. For other buyers, those days are usually better spent following up within their main product cluster.

Choose one regional route after Guangzhou

Shenzhen and Dongguan — electronics and electromechanical products. Use this route for connected devices, control boards, accessories, power products and products where design, tooling, assembly and test responsibilities need to be separated. Before visiting, confirm the exact site, product line and engineering staff who will attend.

Foshan — appliances and household electrical products. This route is more relevant for buyers comparing appliance platforms, component sourcing, tooling ownership, testing and export-market variants. The factory agenda should cover model control and compliance evidence, not only a showroom.

Zhongshan and Guzhen — lighting. Once product specifications are defined, the specialist fair, showrooms and pre-arranged factories can form a focused route. Ask about driver sourcing, thermal design, photometric evidence, ingress protection where relevant, component change control and packaging for the destination market.

These locations are sourcing directions, not a list of endorsed suppliers. Company capability and travel time must be checked against actual appointments.

What to verify beyond the booth

At the fair, capture the legal company name, role in the supply chain, product family, target markets, indicative minimum order, lead time and proposed manufacturing site. Then issue a short evidence request before confirming any visit.

For electronics, ask about design ownership, bill-of-material control, firmware responsibility, testing and component substitutions. For appliances, add tooling, safety certification, reliability evidence and model variants. For lighting, add thermal management, driver and LED traceability, photometric files and change notification. For machinery and vehicles, the agenda must instead address technical configuration, parts support, commissioning and destination-market requirements.

The point is not to demand every document from every booth. It is to identify which few suppliers deserve deeper work.

A realistic seven-day structure

14 October: arrival, badge collection and shortlist confirmation.

15–18 October: Phase 1 meetings organised by product family; reserve the final hour daily for evidence requests and next-day corrections.

19 October: close priority meetings and decide the single follow-up route. A lighting buyer can prepare the transfer to Zhongshan; other buyers confirm factory appointments.

20–22 October: two or three targeted supplier visits in one cluster. Lighting buyers may instead enter Guzhen on 22 October.

Final day: compare evidence, record open issues and assign post-trip actions before departure.

Xentra can help narrow the fair shortlist, confirm whether a company is a manufacturer or intermediary, coordinate bilingual meetings and build a route around verified appointments rather than map pins.
