A useful textile-sourcing trip moves a product closer to sampling. That might mean finding a fabric ready for a jacket trial, choosing yarn with a knitting mill, or matching bedding fabrics with the fillings and finished sizes a retailer needs. The right exhibition depends on what your team can still change—and who will turn the material into the next sample.
For a broad fabric search, make Shanghai’s March 2027 fairs your starting point. Add yarn meetings when you have a mill or development partner able to use the results; choose the home-textile halls when the brief belongs to a bedroom, living room or hospitality collection. If performance clothing needs material decisions before March, November’s specialist fair offers an earlier, more concentrated opportunity. Leather has its own supplier route in September 2027.

March: buy a fabric, or develop one from yarn?
A buyer replacing a shirting fabric may need a comparable handle, a workable order quantity and continuity of supply. Intertextile Apparel Fabrics is a practical base for that search: its scope spans woven and knitted fabrics, prints, lace, functional materials and accessories. An existing fabric reference can move directly into a sample request, subject to the supplier’s availability and your garment trial.
Yarn Expo becomes valuable when the project still has room to change composition or yarn construction. The three March exhibitions share dates and a venue. Use that proximity to bring answers back to the relevant supplier during the fair: a fabric finalist may be able to discuss a nominated yarn, while a yarn candidate may suggest a mill already working with it. For home textiles, decide whether you are buying cloth or a collection
A bedding importer may want duvet covers, pillowcases and filled products that work together. A curtain maker may want fabric by the metre; a hotel buyer may be planning repeat linen orders. Intertextile Home Textiles Spring puts those conversations in a more relevant setting than a garment-fabric search. Its spring product groups explicitly include bedding fabrics and fillings, bath textiles, curtains, upholstery and contract furnishing.
The useful distinction is material supply versus finished-product supply. A visually coordinated room can still require separate suppliers: one for curtain cloth, another for sewn bedding, and another for duvets. Set the product format, intended use, size or usable width, and replenishment requirement before comparing their offers. Those choices reveal whether you need a fabric mill, a filling specialist or a finished home-textile manufacturer.
A mixed apparel-and-home team can share the March journey and split its meetings. Cross over for a specific material question, then return to the people who can supply the intended product. November: give a performance-clothing brief more development time
Functional Textiles Shanghai is especially useful when the team already knows the garment’s job: a light outer shell, a warm mid-layer, next-to-skin sportswear or workwear. Its fabrics, yarns, finishes and accessories are presented around functional clothing, with material displays and expert sessions supporting development conversations.
The November 2026 programme gives this edition a specific reason to visit: the organiser has announced a biobased-materials focus, alongside displays spanning layering fabrics and accessories. For a team investigating a change in fibre source, that offers a way to explore candidates while keeping the finished garment’s needs in view. Ask which samples are available for trials and whether the proposed material can be supplied at your development quantity; an interesting material story is most useful when it can enter the sampling plan.
Choose between this fair and March’s broader apparel-fabric event using the garment layer, priority performance requirement, sourcing breadth and sample deadline. A focused outerwear project may benefit from November’s specialist conversations. A collection spanning shirts, dresses and several accessory categories has more reason to favour the broad March visit. A second visit has a clearer purpose if the intervening months are used to test and narrow materials, so March meetings can resolve the next decision.

Leather: specify the processing stage before choosing suppliers
ACLE returns on 1–3 September 2027. Its leather offer ranges from raw hides and semi-finished material to finished leather for footwear, bags, garments and upholstery. Tanning chemicals and machinery serve a different set of meetings within the same fair.
For a product manufacturer, start with the processing stage, intended use, finish and usable cutting yield. That brief directs attention toward leather ready for the proposed product. A tannery buying hides or process inputs will need its production team involved. The fair brings together Chinese and international businesses, so identify the supplier’s production location and the market it serves when building an overseas-sourcing shortlist.
There is a useful crossover with home textiles when a furniture team is considering fabric and leather upholstery. March can help establish the textile options; September can support a dedicated leather comparison if the project calendar allows it. These are separate visits with different supplier questions. For a leather-only purchase, build the journey around ACLE and the suppliers relevant to that material.
A historical reference for industrial textiles
For filtration media, nonwovens and other industrial textile applications, the completed Cinte Techtextil China 2026 remains a useful supplier-research reference.
