A fabric swatch may feel right in the hand yet leave unanswered questions about the garment it will become. A lightweight walking jacket, a stretch trouser and a fleece mid-layer need different constructions, finishes and sample work. Choosing one development task makes an off-site supplier discussion much more productive.

Its Shanghai headquarters is a practical contact point for sample development, while its production partners are separately located. Treat this as a material-development appointment rather than an assumed factory tour.
Give each swatch a garment job
The organiser confirms 10–12 March 2027 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai. The official product scope covers woven and knitted apparel fabrics, functional materials and accessories. Finished bedding and interior fabrics belong to a different buying mission, even when exhibitions share the same site.
Choose the garment layer before making the shortlist. For an outer jacket, identify the desired fabric construction and finish, intended care routine and the buyer’s performance requirements. For stretch trousers, the discussion may instead centre on weight, stretch and recovery; for a fleece, on handle, warmth requirements and pilling. These are inputs for supplier evaluation, not evidence that a proposed fabric meets them.
Attach the supplier’s article number, composition, weight, usable width, finish and colour to each swatch. Keep any current stock option separate from a custom development. They may have different minimums, sample availability and lead times even when the appearance is similar.
Ask Youvion for a sample-development meeting
Youvion’s contact page lists 1188 Lianhang Road, Minhang District, Shanghai, and describes fabrics for base layers, fleece mid-layers, outer jackets and stretch bottoms. It also distinguishes its Shanghai headquarters from production partners in other textile centres. Ask which person can explain the nominated fabric and which physical samples can be made available at the meeting.
Send a compact brief with the garment application, selected references, intended quantity and outstanding questions. Confirm the room or showroom address, the people attending and the sample yardage available before allocating a half-day away from NECC. Youvion is an appointment candidate, not an endorsement or a confirmed 2027 exhibitor; production-site access would require a separate arrangement.
The company’s development page describes custom fabric work. Use the meeting to distinguish changes available on an existing reference from changes that require new knitting, weaving, dyeing or finishing trials. Ask who performs each relevant operation and who will supply the finished fabric. That answer is more useful than assuming the meeting location owns every production step.
Leave with the next sample decision
For the selected reference, agree the sample length, colour, finish and delivery date needed for a garment trial. Request existing test reports with their methods and sample identification, then have your technical team define any additional tests and acceptance criteria. Headline terms such as waterproof, breathable or abrasion-resistant need a comparable test basis before they can support a purchasing decision.
Include the practical development costs: lab dips, trial quantities, sample yardage, minimums by colour and the point at which bulk lead time starts. Ask how the agreed finish and colour will be identified when ordering again, and what changes require your approval.
The appointment earns its time when both sides leave with one sample plan, named responsibilities and a date for reviewing the garment trial. If the team cannot provide the requested samples or explain the development route, retain the fair’s other candidates and follow up remotely. A further visit becomes worthwhile when it answers a new question, not simply because another textile location is available.
