China Power, Grid & Clean Energy Trade Shows 2026–2027: A Buyer’s Guide

Compare nine China power, grid and clean-energy exhibitions for electrical equipment, UPS and power conversion, digital energy, wind, solar, biomass, hydrogen and generator systems.

An energy project may need generation equipment, grid connection, power conversion, backup supply and an operating system, but those requirements do not lead to one interchangeable group of exhibitions. A wind developer, a utility buying switchgear, a data-centre team selecting standby generators and an industrial company planning a microgrid may all describe their work as “power sourcing” while needing different technical meetings.

For transmission, distribution and the architecture of a new power system, EP Shanghai is the strongest starting point in this selection. CWP leads a wind-specific search; SNEC PV+ leads photovoltaic generation; APBE provides the specialist biomass route; and SNEC H2+ covers hydrogen production, storage, transport and fuel-cell applications. GPOWER is the direct choice for generator sets and standby or distributed power, while the Guangzhou power-supply expo focuses on power conversion inside equipment and facilities. IDEE and Clean Energy Expo China are most useful when several assets must be considered as one operating system.

The nine records below therefore form six planning windows rather than a league table. Some events share dates and venues; others overlap in Shanghai but use different exhibition centres. The right route follows the buyer’s electrical boundary and project responsibility, not the number of energy technologies mentioned in a brochure.

Draw the system boundary before choosing an exhibition

An electrical project can be divided into four purchasing questions.

How will electricity be generated or converted? Wind, PV, biomass, hydrogen and engine-driven generation each have their own equipment chain, operating conditions and evidence. CWP, SNEC PV+, APBE, SNEC H2+ and GPOWER serve these technology routes.

How will electricity be transmitted, distributed and protected? Transformers, switchgear, protection, metering, automation, power quality and grid-control equipment belong to EP Shanghai’s core territory. These decisions use system voltage, fault level, protection philosophy and grid requirements rather than a generic renewable-energy brief.

How will power be conditioned inside equipment or a facility? The World Power Supply Industry Expo focuses on switching and modular supplies, UPS and EPS systems, converters, electronic transformers, power semiconductors and test equipment. That is a different product market from utility transmission and distribution, even when both use the word “power”.

How will all assets be operated together? IDEE and Clean Energy Expo China help project teams connect generation, storage, load, data and commercial operation. Their value is highest when the buyer has already defined the assets, decisions and interfaces that the system needs to coordinate.

September 2026: choose between system coordination and two specialist Guangzhou routes

IDEE begins in Shenzhen on 15 September. APBE and the World Power Supply Industry Expo run from 16 to 18 September at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou. The overlap creates three distinct buyer routes in the same week.

IDEE for digital energy and operating control

IDEE combines new-energy power equipment with AI-enabled solutions, electricity-carbon integration, energy services and APEC energy-innovation practices. It is suited to an industrial site, utility, campus, data centre or energy-service project that must coordinate meters, generation, storage and flexible loads.

Bring the single-line diagram, available operating data, load profile, controllable assets and business objective. A peak-demand project, for example, needs to state whether the system may dispatch storage, shift process loads, control charging or only make recommendations. Suppliers can then explain the required meters, gateways, communications, optimisation logic and operator workflow.

The event is less direct for a team buying a wind turbine, biomass boiler or standard power module. Its advantage comes from the operating layer across assets, not from offering the deepest catalogue in every equipment category.

APBE for a biomass conversion chain

APBE follows biological material from preparation into usable fuel, heat and power. Its official scope includes pellet and briquette machinery, crushing and drying, biomass boilers and burners, gasification, biogas production and treatment, waste-to-energy equipment, cogeneration and related environmental controls.

The first comparison should begin with the feedstock. Moisture, particle size, seasonal availability, contaminants, ash behaviour, storage conditions and delivered cost affect the suitable preparation and conversion route. A boiler, gasifier, digester and pellet line do not solve the same problem simply because they all use biomass.

Buyers should document the required output—process heat, steam, electricity, gas or a saleable solid fuel—together with capacity, operating hours, emissions requirements, residue handling and local service. APBE becomes especially useful when equipment meetings can be followed by a reference-plant or manufacturing visit that handles a comparable feedstock.

Guangzhou’s power-supply expo for conversion inside products and facilities

The World Power Supply Industry Expo covers switching supplies, adapters, UPS and EPS systems, DC/DC and AC/DC conversion, inverters, voltage regulation, industrial and communications power, special-purpose supplies, transformers and inductors. Its component and production sections add semiconductors, capacitors, protection, thermal materials, enclosures, winding, test, ageing and EMC equipment.

That product structure fits electronics manufacturers, industrial-equipment companies, data-centre or telecom teams, medical and transport product developers, distributors and brands sourcing a defined power unit. Prepare input and output range, load profile, efficiency, power density, thermal limits, protection, EMC and safety standards, communications, mechanical envelope and lifetime expectations. For UPS or EPS systems, add autonomy, bypass, battery interface, redundancy and maintainability.

APBE and the power-supply expo share dates and the same Guangzhou complex, but they are complementary only when a project genuinely includes both biomass conversion and its electrical power or control packages. For most visitors, they represent separate hall routes rather than competing exhibitions.

October 2026: CWP for the wind-power system

China Wind Power reaches its 19th edition in 2026. The organiser’s current programme covers wind technologies and products, with concurrent sections for offshore wind engineering, hydrogen and fuel-cell equipment, and new energy storage. This structure lets a wind project team study the turbine and its surrounding energy system while keeping wind as the main mission.

A turbine or project comparison should start with site conditions: wind regime, turbulence, temperature, altitude, corrosion, transport and lifting limits, grid code, project size and service strategy. The same nominal turbine rating can lead to different annual energy, loads, foundations, logistics and maintenance requirements.

Component buyers need a narrower brief for blades, bearings, gearboxes, generators, converters, towers, cables, controls or condition monitoring. Clarify whether the supplier owns the design, manufactures to the turbine maker’s specification or provides a qualified replacement. Offshore projects add vessel access, lifting, subsea cable, corrosion protection, foundation and weather-window questions.

The concurrent storage and hydrogen sections are worth adding when wind curtailment, firming, hybrid generation or power-to-hydrogen is already in the project scope. Their presence does not turn CWP into a general substitute for SNEC H2+ or a dedicated storage exhibition. December 2026: EP Shanghai for grid and industrial electrical systems

EP Shanghai’s core is the electrical system between generation and load. The current organiser scope covers primary and secondary transmission and distribution equipment, transformers, low-voltage systems, protection and control, dispatch, metering, automation, testing, intelligent operation and maintenance, and electrical manufacturing. Storage, hydrogen, data-centre power, microgrids, virtual power plants and energy digitalisation extend that core into new power-system applications.

This is the most direct event in the group for utilities, EPC contractors, electrical distributors, industrial energy teams and engineering consultants comparing grid or plant electrical equipment. A useful brief includes voltage level, frequency, earthing, fault level, insulation and environmental conditions, applicable standards, protection philosophy, communications protocols and the intended operating scheme.

Primary equipment, secondary systems and software should be compared as connected but separate packages. A switchgear supplier must answer ratings, type tests, internal-arc requirements, interlocks and service. A protection or control supplier needs the single-line diagram, functions, time synchronisation, communications and setting responsibility. A virtual-power-plant or microgrid platform needs a defined asset list, data access and dispatch authority.

March 2027: Clean Energy Expo China for architecture before equipment selection

Clean Energy Expo China connects photovoltaic power, concentrated solar power, storage and hydrogen with AI data-centre demand and AI applications for new energy. Its role is wider than any one generation technology. It helps developers, energy users and engineering teams compare which combination of assets belongs in a project before every equipment package has been specified.

This is useful for a clean-energy park, industrial decarbonisation programme or large new load that may require renewable generation, storage, grid supply, hydrogen or several of them. Meetings should begin with demand, location, resource, grid constraints, land or space, operating objective and development stage. Suppliers can then be grouped into technology providers, system integrators, engineering partners, developers and service companies.

Beijing should lead when the buyer is still choosing an architecture or partner model. Once the project has selected a technology, CWP, SNEC PV+, SNEC H2+, EP Shanghai or GPOWER provides a more concentrated equipment route.

June 2027: three Shanghai shows, two venues and a real scheduling choice

SNEC PV+ and SNEC H2+ run from 2 to 4 June at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. GPOWER starts one day later and continues to 5 June at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The two venues are on different sides of Shanghai, so the overlap should be treated as a scheduling decision, not as one seamless exhibition complex.

SNEC PV+ for photovoltaic generation

SNEC PV+ covers manufacturing materials and equipment, cells, modules, inverters, mounting and balance-of-system products, engineering, power projects, storage and smart energy. It is the broadest photovoltaic platform in this selection and suits both product-chain and project teams.

Generation buyers should bring the project location, resource assumptions, module and inverter architecture, grid requirements, mechanical and environmental loads, energy-yield basis and delivery model. Manufacturing buyers need a different sheet covering product format, process, throughput, yield, inspection, utilities, changeover and service. Keeping those two missions separate prevents a project discussion from becoming a factory-equipment tour.

SNEC H2+ for the hydrogen chain

SNEC H2+ covers hydrogen production, storage, transport, refuelling and use, together with fuel-cell systems and applications in transport, distributed power and energy storage. Its official theme connects “green electricity” with “green hydrogen”, making it relevant when renewable power is the input to an electrolysis and hydrogen-use chain.

A hydrogen brief should state the production route, feedstock and electricity source, required purity and pressure, output, operating profile, storage duration, transport or pipeline boundary, end use and applicable codes. Electrolyser efficiency alone cannot describe the complete plant; water treatment, compression, drying, storage, controls, safety, balance of plant and maintenance all affect the delivered system.

SNEC PV+ and H2+ can share one trip when power-to-hydrogen is a defined project. Assign separate meetings for PV generation and hydrogen process packages, then reserve joint discussions for electricity profile, electrolyser operation, storage and overall plant control.

GPOWER for generator sets, standby power and distributed generation

GPOWER focuses on engines, generator sets, distributed-energy equipment, power stations, controls, components and maintenance. It is the direct choice for data centres, hospitals, telecoms, industrial plants, commercial facilities and project teams that need standby, prime or distributed generation.

Prepare the required duty—standby, prime, continuous or emergency—together with load steps, motor starting, harmonics, ambient temperature, altitude, fuel, emissions and noise limits, autonomy, redundancy, synchronisation and grid-parallel requirements. Data-centre buyers should also define the reliability tier, start time, block loading, controls integration, testing method and maintenance access.

A single buyer can combine GPOWER with one SNEC day when the same facility includes both renewable generation and standby power, but crossing Shanghai during overlapping show hours has a real cost. Teams with distinct technical responsibilities can split across venues; otherwise, the event tied to the project’s critical package should receive the full day.

Which event should lead the shortlist?

Transmission, distribution, protection or industrial electrical systems

Start with EP Shanghai. IDEE can complement it for data, optimisation and energy-service layers, while Clean Energy Expo China is relevant when grid equipment belongs to a wider clean-energy investment decision.

Electronic power supplies, UPS, converters or power modules

Use the World Power Supply Industry Expo as the specialist Guangzhou option. EP Shanghai becomes relevant for facility-level distribution, protection and system architecture; GPOWER becomes relevant when engine-driven backup generation is also required.

Wind, photovoltaic, biomass or hydrogen generation

Choose the technology-led exhibition: CWP for wind, SNEC PV+ for solar, APBE for biomass conversion and SNEC H2+ for hydrogen and fuel cells. Clean Energy Expo China is the earlier-stage choice when the technology route remains open.

Standby, prime or distributed engine generation

GPOWER should lead. EP Shanghai can add downstream distribution, controls and protection when those packages are also being procured.

A multi-asset energy system or industrial decarbonisation plan

IDEE is strongest for digital coordination and operating services. Clean Energy Expo China offers the wider clean-energy architecture. The specialist event should follow once the project has decided which generation and electrical packages need deeper supplier comparison.

Prepare one technical case, then split it by package

Begin with one project note that defines the site, load, operating objective, applicable standards, delivery schedule and commercial model. Add the electricity boundary: what is generated on site, what enters from the grid, what must remain available during an outage, and which party controls each asset.

Then issue package-specific questions. Generation suppliers respond to resource or fuel, duty, output, efficiency, environmental limits and service. Grid-equipment suppliers respond to voltage, fault level, protection, tests and interfaces. Power-electronics suppliers respond to input and output, efficiency, thermal design, EMC and lifetime. Digital platforms respond to data, controls, optimisation logic, cybersecurity and operator workflow.

The result is a set of technically comparable meetings without pretending that a turbine, transformer, UPS, generator set and energy-management platform belong in one product ranking.
