China’s main furniture fairs do not form a simple league table. Some are broad finished-furniture marketplaces, some are design-led platforms, and others serve office projects or the machinery, hardware and materials behind furniture production. The most useful show therefore depends on what the buyer needs to source and whether the trip is for supplier discovery, product direction, factory follow-up or production technology.
For a broad residential-furniture sourcing trip, Furniture China or CIFF Shanghai in September 2026, and CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 in March 2027, are the strongest starting points in this guide. Design-led retailers and interior practices should also consider Maison Shanghai, Design Shanghai or the Shenzhen fair. Buyers working on office and commercial furniture should prioritise CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2, while factories and furniture brands looking for components, materials or production equipment should place CIFM/interzum Guangzhou at the centre of the trip.
This guide covers nine verified editions scheduled between 5 September 2026 and 31 March 2027. It is a selection framework rather than a claim that every furniture-related event in China belongs on one itinerary.

September in Shanghai: three fairs, three different jobs
The September calendar creates a real planning opportunity because CIFF Shanghai, Maison Shanghai and Furniture China overlap. It also creates a common mistake: treating them as one exhibition spread across Shanghai. They are separate events at three venues, so a buyer needs to decide what each day is meant to achieve.
CIFF Shanghai for a broad home-furnishing view
CIFF Shanghai is scheduled for 5–8 September at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hongqiao. Its official 2026 scope spans home furniture, sofa and living and dining furniture, sleep products, outdoor furniture, office and commercial space, equipment, accessories and home textiles. That breadth makes it useful when a buyer is still comparing several finished-furniture categories or wants to see how brands, design, retail channels and manufacturing connect.
Its limitation is the same as its strength: a large range does not guarantee equal depth for every narrowly defined product. Buyers should identify relevant halls and brands before arrival rather than using the fair as an unstructured first-day walk.
Furniture China for export-facing supplier discovery
Furniture China runs from 8–11 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong. The organiser positions the event around international trade, finished furniture and original design, with the Furniture Manufacturing & Supply China resources running alongside it. For importers, distributors and furniture brands building a supplier shortlist, this mix gives the fair a particularly direct sourcing role.
Furniture China and CIFF Shanghai are genuine alternatives for many residential-furniture buyers, but they are not interchangeable. CIFF offers a broad whole-chain platform in Hongqiao; Furniture China gives the Pudong week a stronger export-trade and supplier-discovery orientation. Buyers choosing only one should compare product halls, relevant exhibitors and meeting availability rather than relying on headline size.
Maison Shanghai for design products and commercial ideas
Maison Shanghai is scheduled for 7–10 September at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Its current programme combines furniture, decorative materials, design, lifestyle and smart-home directions, with factory-direct and curated commercial formats. It is more useful as a focused design and product-development layer than as a replacement for either of the two large finished-furniture fairs.
A practical Shanghai sequence could begin at CIFF on 5–6 September, use 7 September for the parts of Maison that match a design or lifestyle brief, and move to Furniture China from 8 September. This is an example of how the dates can work, not a substitute for checking exhibitors and fixing meetings. The sequence becomes worthwhile when the buyer has separate objectives and shortlists for each venue. A buyer focused on one defined product category may gain more from spending the same time in meetings at one major fair.
Design Shanghai: specification and brand direction, not a volume-sourcing substitute
Design Shanghai returns to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 4–7 March 2027. The organiser’s current page confirms the dates and its focus on international design brands and relationships with architects, interior designers, developers and retailers. The completed 2026 edition used four curated sections—furniture and lighting; kitchen, bathroom and systems design; new materials and applications; and living and lifestyle—which is useful context for the show’s breadth, but buyers should recheck the detailed 2027 sections and floor plan when the organiser publishes them.
This makes the show valuable for buyers looking for design language, international and Chinese brands, materials, product positioning and specification ideas. It is less suited to a procurement mission whose main questions are factory capacity, export pricing and a wide comparison of volume manufacturers. A buyer can use Design Shanghai to define what a collection or project should become, then conduct supplier and factory work through a separate sourcing programme.
South China in March: choose a route, not every badge
The March schedule connects Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou, but the dates make indiscriminate show-hopping inefficient. Dongguan and Shenzhen overlap on 15–17 March, while CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 starts on 18 March. The route should therefore reflect the buyer’s product and supplier mission.
Dongguan for furniture brands, factories and the Houjie ecosystem
The 56th Famous Furniture Fair is scheduled for 15–19 March 2027 in Dongguan. Its value comes from the connection between the exhibition and Houjie’s year-round furniture trade and manufacturing base. The organiser’s associated Famous Furniture Expo Park covers categories including solid wood, contemporary and luxury furniture, office furniture, children’s furniture and soft furnishings.
For buyers who want to move from show-floor discovery into scheduled supplier or factory meetings, Dongguan offers a commercially relevant base. The fair itself should still be used for shortlisting: factory access, export experience, production ownership and quality systems need to be confirmed before appointments are placed on the route.
Shenzhen for design, technology and changing retail channels
The 42nd Shenzhen International Furniture Fair and Shenzhen Creative Week are scheduled for 15–17 March 2027 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian. The organiser describes four themed areas built around Shenzhen design, collaborative curation, emerging brands and established brands, with attention to AI, technology, residential projects, commercial spaces and cultural or tourism applications.
This positioning makes Shenzhen useful for retailers, brands and design teams looking at how furniture connects with smart-home technology, new presentation formats and commercial conversion. It is a less direct substitute for Dongguan when the buyer’s main purpose is to build a factory route around a concentrated furniture manufacturing base.
Because both shows start on 15 March, trying to cover each in full weakens both visits. A design and retail team may choose Shenzhen before continuing to CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1. A finished-furniture importer with factory meetings in the Pearl River Delta may choose Dongguan and then travel to Guangzhou.
CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 for residential furniture and outdoor living
CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 runs from 18–21 March 2027. The official division covers home furniture, home décor and home textiles, and outdoor leisure. It is the broadest South China choice in this guide for buyers comparing residential furniture categories at one event.
The phase follows immediately after the Dongguan and Shenzhen dates, so it can complete a realistic South China trip. Its role should be different from the first stop: use Dongguan or Shenzhen to investigate a specific regional ecosystem or design direction, then use CIFF to broaden the shortlist and fill category gaps.
Phase 2 and interzum for office furniture and production decisions
CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2 and CIFM/interzum Guangzhou are both scheduled for 28–31 March at the Canton Fair Complex. Phase 2 covers office and commercial space, while interzum focuses on the supply side of furniture and interior production: hardware, components, upholstery and bedding machinery, panels, surfaces, adhesives, coatings, woodworking machinery and related equipment.
This is a practical combination because the two shows serve adjacent decisions at the same time and place. An office-furniture brand can compare finished systems and commercial applications in Phase 2, then examine the components and production technology behind them at interzum. A distributor seeking only finished residential furniture would usually get more value from Phase 1 ten days earlier.
Which show fits which buyer?
Residential furniture importers and distributors
Start with Furniture China, CIFF Shanghai or CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1. Choose the edition that best fits the travel period and target supplier region, then compare the official exhibitor and hall information for the exact categories required. Add Dongguan when factory follow-up in the Pearl River Delta is a core part of the trip.
Design-led retailers, studios and project specifiers
Design Shanghai is the clearest design and specification event in the guide. Maison Shanghai adds a commercially oriented design, material and lifestyle layer during the September sourcing week. Shenzhen becomes relevant when the brief combines furniture with technology, emerging brands or new retail presentation.
Office, commercial and hospitality furniture buyers
CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2 should be the first show to assess because the event division is built around office and commercial space. Interzum is a useful same-venue addition when the buyer also needs to understand components, surfaces, upholstery or manufacturing methods.
Furniture manufacturers and brands improving production
CIFM/interzum Guangzhou is the most focused event in this group for machinery, hardware, components and materials. CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2 adds finished-product and commercial-space context. Furniture China’s associated manufacturing resources can provide a second opportunity during the September cycle.
If the buyer can attend only one show
There is no universal winner, but the shortlist can be reduced quickly:
- Furniture China 2026 for an export-oriented residential-furniture and supplier-discovery mission in September;
- CIFF Shanghai 2026 for a broad home-furnishing and whole-chain view in the same period;
- CIFF Guangzhou Phase 1 for broad residential, décor and outdoor sourcing in South China;
- CIFF Guangzhou Phase 2 for office and commercial furniture;
- CIFM/interzum Guangzhou for furniture production technology, components and materials;
- Design Shanghai for design brands, specification ideas and product direction.
Maison Shanghai, Shenzhen and Dongguan become especially valuable when their distinct design, retail or regional-manufacturing advantages match the trip. They should not be added simply because their dates are nearby.
Plan the research before booking the route
Event dates and broad categories are only the first filter. Before committing to flights and hotels, a buyer should prepare a product brief, obtain the latest exhibitor or brand information, identify the halls that matter, and request meetings with enough time for suppliers to respond. For a multi-city South China route, factory and showroom appointments should be confirmed before the travel sequence is fixed.
The show floor is well suited to discovering products, comparing visible ranges, meeting commercial teams and identifying questions. Supplier identity, manufacturing location, export capability, quality systems, capacity, certification and delivery performance require later document review, samples, technical discussions or factory verification according to the product risk.
Xentra Global can help turn the selected fair into a working programme through exhibitor research, supplier shortlisting, meeting coordination, interpretation, factory appointments and post-show comparison.
