Start from the finished product
The fair runs from 28–31 March 2027 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, covering hardware, components, upholstery, panels, laminates, woodworking machinery and interior materials. Prepare drawings, bill of materials, performance targets, finish references, volume, process constraints and target cost.

Mark the items that are critical to product performance, appearance, assembly or service. A hinge may control door alignment and field adjustment; a panel and edge system may control finish continuity and moisture exposure; foam and fabric affect comfort, appearance and replacement. These items deserve a deeper evidence request than ordinary catalogue parts.
Keep the product revision visible throughout the visit. A proposed component should link to the drawing position, interface dimensions, surrounding materials, finish, expected volume and approval owner. This prevents a technically interesting sample from becoming disconnected from the product it is meant to improve.
Connect materials with production
For hardware and mechanisms, record the exact model, load path, adjustment range, mounting pattern, tolerance needs, surface treatment, test basis, maintenance and service parts. Ask which mating parts or installation conditions were used for the evidence shown. A cycle result from another configuration may support discussion without proving the buyer’s assembly.
For panels, laminates and interior surfaces, connect substrate, density or construction, thickness, surface reference, colour or batch tolerance, emissions or other market needs, machining, edge treatment, cleaning and repair. Clarify whether the supplier sells a standard board, a decorative layer, a complete matched system or a custom combination.
For upholstery, define the finished application before comparing foam, fabric, leather or filling. Seat, back, acoustic panel and decorative surface have different compression, abrasion, care, colour, seam and fire-performance needs. Record who converts the material into the finished upholstered part and who controls the approved sample.
Supply continuity needs concrete rules. Note minimum order, standard or custom status, tooling ownership, normal lead time, reserved capacity if relevant, packaging, lot identification, shelf life where applicable, and notice for material, process, site or subcontractor changes. Identify the person authorised to approve a substitute.
Normalise component quotations against the same reference, quantity, finish, packaging, delivery term, tooling or sample charge and validity. A lower unit price can be offset by a new mould, larger minimum, more difficult assembly or additional inspection.
When assessing machinery, use one intended material and part. Write the operation sequence, incoming condition, critical dimensions, finish, output, changeover, tooling, dust or waste handling, automation, inspection and data interface. Ask which party owns fixtures, tools, guarding, loaders, gauges, software and line integration.
Plan a controlled trial with the material, drawing revision, tooling, program, measurement method, sample quantity and acceptance criteria agreed in advance. Separate setup time from repeat cycle, retain all measured results and state which findings are demonstrated versus estimated. Factory acceptance should test the contracted configuration; acceptance at the buyer’s site should confirm installation, utilities, integration and output in the real environment.
Use concurrent CIFF as a reality check
CIFF Guangzhou 2027 Phase 2 runs at the same venue and dates. Buyers can inspect how mechanisms, panels and upholstery appear in finished office or commercial furniture, then return to the upstream discussion with concrete installation, finish or service questions.
This loop is valuable when both halls serve the same product brief. Teams buying only machinery or raw materials can stay focused on interzum and use the saved time for technical meetings.
A practical loop begins with one upstream question, not general inspiration:
- Shortlist the component, material or process at interzum and record its exact reference and interfaces.
- Find comparable finished products at CIFF and observe how the choice affects appearance, adjustment, assembly, access, cleaning or replacement.
- Return to the upstream supplier with the specific product issue and request the missing drawing, test basis, sample or application guidance.
- Confirm with the intended furniture manufacturer whether the option is compatible, approved and included in its quotation.
Finished furniture can reveal useful application details, but it may not disclose the actual supplier or revision of every internal component. Treat the CIFF observation as product context unless the responsible company confirms the upstream part.
Define the next verification
Classify candidates for sample testing, drawing review, quotation, machine trial, supplier-site visit or no action. Keep product performance, manufacturing capability, commercial terms and continuity risk visible as separate fields.
A component or material site visit becomes useful when the decision depends on formulation, tooling, special processing, test capability, colour or lot control, traceability, capacity or change management. For machinery, the visit may need application engineering, assembly, calibration, software control, trial records, factory acceptance and service preparation. Confirm which relevant work occurs at the proposed address before travelling.
Follow one shortlisted reference through incoming material, production or assembly, in-process checks, release, identification and packing. Link drawings, samples, reports and quotation to the same revision. Where critical work is subcontracted, record the supplier’s approval and control method rather than assuming every process is in-house.
The final matrix should show the finished-product use, component or machine reference, proposed legal and production entities, interface requirements, demonstrated evidence, sample or trial status, approved revision, quotation basis, continuity or service risk, next decision and owner. The value of interzum lies in upstream choices that can be carried into a real product and production plan.
