China Optoelectronics, Photonics & Display Trade Shows 2026–2027: A Buyer’s Guide

Compare five China exhibitions for optical components, photonics, industrial lasers, sensing, touch displays, panel manufacturing and regional optoelectronics supply chains.

An optical transceiver, an industrial laser system and an automotive display may all rely on photonic components, but they lead to very different exhibition routes. One buyer needs lasers, detectors and optical packaging; another needs touch modules, cover materials and display-production equipment; a third is comparing complete laser-processing cells. Treating every event with “light” or “display” in its scope as interchangeable makes the travel plan less useful.

For the widest view of the optoelectronics chain, CIOE 2026 is the strongest starting point in this selection. C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY Shenzhen concentrates on touch, new-display materials, modules and manufacturing. Laser World of Photonics Shanghai moves the focus toward lasers, optics, metrology and industrial applications. FPD China is narrower again, around flat-panel and next-generation display manufacturing. The Western China International Optoelectronic Expo provides a later regional option for companies with a specific Chengdu or western-China supplier mission.

These five records create five event windows. They are better understood as three purchasing routes—optoelectronic components and systems, display technology and production, and laser or optical manufacturing—than as a simple ranking from large to small.

Define whether the requirement is a component, a process or a finished optical system

The clearest first split is not between “optics” and “electronics”. It is between what the buyer is actually qualifying.

Optical and photonic components include lenses, filters, mirrors, coatings, light sources, lasers, detectors, sensors, fibre devices, transceivers and integrated-photonic components. Here, wavelength, power, loss, sensitivity, geometry, environmental limits and package interfaces shape the supplier search. CIOE offers the broadest chain, while Laser World of Photonics Shanghai gives deeper access to laser and precision-optics technology.

Display materials, modules and production processes include panels, touch sensors, cover glass, optical films, adhesives, polarizers, driver components, backlights, e-paper, OLED and Mini/Micro LED manufacturing. C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY is useful for the materials-to-module path. FPD China is more relevant when the question moves upstream into panel production equipment, process materials and factory technology.

Laser and optical production systems combine a source, beam delivery, optics, motion, process control, safety, extraction and inspection around a defined industrial task. Laser World of Photonics Shanghai is the most focused event in this guide for that system-level comparison. CIOE can complement it where the project depends on specialist components, sensing or optical communication.

Application systems—machine vision, LiDAR, medical imaging, AR/VR, optical communications or commercial displays—sit above these layers. Their presence at an exhibition is useful only when it connects to the part, module or process that the buyer is responsible for purchasing.

September 2026: use CIOE to map a broad optoelectronics requirement

CIOE 2026 is scheduled at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. The organiser divides the event into eight thematic expos covering information and communication, precision optics, lasers, infrared and ultraviolet, intelligent sensing, display, AR/VR and other photonics innovation. That structure makes CIOE the broadest market-mapping event among these five records.

Build separate routes inside CIOE

An optical-communications team can concentrate on laser chips and sources, modulators, detectors, optical modules, fibre devices, test equipment and packaging. A precision-optics team needs a different route through optical materials, lenses and assemblies, coating, ultra-precision processing, imaging and metrology. A sensing team may prioritise industrial cameras, image sensors, infrared detectors, LiDAR, machine vision and measurement systems.

The display and AR/VR areas can support early technology scouting, especially where optics, microdisplays, waveguides, sensing and human–machine interfaces meet. A buyer whose central task is panel production or touch-module manufacturing will find a more concentrated supplier route at C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY or FPD China.

The organiser publishes a projected 2026 scale and a searchable exhibitor and product list. The latter is more useful for planning than the headline size. Segment the directory by the component or process required, then mark the companies that provide a complete product, a critical subcomponent, a manufacturing service or test capability. This prevents suppliers at different levels of the chain from being compared as if they offered the same deliverable.

What CIOE is particularly good at revealing

CIOE can show how several optical layers connect. A transceiver buyer can move from laser and detector devices to optical packaging, fibre coupling, modules and test. An AR/VR team can examine microdisplay, optical engine, waveguide and sensing options within one event.

That breadth is less helpful when the project brief contains only an application name. “Automotive optics” might mean a camera lens, a LiDAR transmitter, an infrared detector, a display module or an inspection station. Defining the owned component and its interface before the show gives the CIOE route a useful boundary.

October 2026: C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY for the display stack and its manufacturing inputs

C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY Shenzhen 2026 is scheduled for 27–29 October at the same Bao’an exhibition complex used by several concurrent electronics-manufacturing events. Its official scope reaches from display and touch materials through panels and modules to production equipment and commercial display applications.

Follow the display stack from material to module

For a touch or display module, the useful comparison starts with panel technology and size, optical performance, touch architecture, cover material, bonding method, mechanical envelope, interface, driver support and environmental requirements. Automotive, industrial, medical and outdoor products add their own brightness, temperature, vibration, lifetime, readability and qualification needs.

Upstream discussions may cover glass substrates, liquid-crystal or OLED materials, polarizers, optical films, conductive films, OCA, coatings, photoresists and process chemicals. Manufacturing discussions can then move through cutting, coating, printing, lamination, bonding, inspection, cleaning, handling and module assembly. Mini/Micro LED and e-paper routes bring different transfer, packaging, backplane, yield and repair questions.

This makes the event useful to module makers and product teams that need to connect performance targets with material and process choices. Use the concurrent Shenzhen week selectively

C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY overlaps with NEPCON Asia, S‑Factory Expo and specialist semiconductor and materials programmes. A display module or smart-terminal project may genuinely cross those halls when it also involves PCB assembly, semiconductor packaging, automation or inspection.

The additional route becomes valuable when each hall answers a defined interface question—for example, how the display module will be assembled into the product, how optical bonding will be inspected or how a Mini LED package enters module production. A single undifferentiated supplier list would blur materials suppliers, panel makers, module integrators and equipment companies.

March 2027: Laser World of Photonics Shanghai for lasers, optics and production systems

Laser World of Photonics Shanghai 2027 is scheduled for 8–10 March at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Its official topic areas cover laser systems for production engineering, lasers and optoelectronics, optical metrology and quality assurance, optics and optical manufacturing, infrared technologies, integrated photonics and optical communications.

Begin with the industrial result, then compare the optical chain

For laser processing, describe the material, thickness, geometry, current process, required cycle time, heat-affected-zone limit, edge or surface requirement and acceptance method. That brief determines whether the relevant discussion is cutting, welding, marking, cleaning, cladding, additive manufacturing, micromachining or another process.

The equipment comparison can then follow the system: laser source and wavelength; pulse format or continuous operation; beam delivery and scanning; focusing optics; motion and fixturing; process monitoring; extraction and safety; software and line integration. Sample results become more useful when the supplier records the machine configuration and processing window rather than presenting an isolated finished part.

For precision optics, define material, clear aperture, surface form, surface quality, coating band, wavefront or dimensional tolerance, environmental condition and inspection method. Manufacturing capability, coating, cleaning, assembly and metrology should be evaluated as one chain when several suppliers share responsibility for the final optical performance.

When it is a better choice than CIOE

Laser World of Photonics Shanghai is the more concentrated option when the buying task is an industrial laser process, optical production equipment, optical metrology or precision-optics manufacturing. CIOE is stronger when the team needs a wider September view across communication, sensing, display, infrared, components and application systems, particularly in the Shenzhen electronics ecosystem.

The dates are six months apart, so they are practical alternatives for many projects rather than a same-trip combination. A team can also use CIOE for early supplier mapping and Shanghai for a later process trial or system shortlist, provided the intervening months are used to exchange samples, specifications and test plans.

March 2027: FPD China for display manufacturing rather than finished screens

FPD China 2027 runs from 24–26 March at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre alongside SEMICON China. Its role in this guide is manufacturing: equipment, materials, components and processes used to make flat-panel and next-generation displays.

Connect display performance to the factory process

A product company usually begins with display size, resolution, brightness, contrast, colour, viewing angle, power, touch performance, operating environment, lifetime and interface. A panel or module manufacturer must translate those targets into substrate, backplane, emissive or liquid-crystal system, deposition and patterning, encapsulation, module assembly, inspection and test choices.

FPD China is therefore better suited to panel manufacturers, equipment and materials buyers, process engineers, display R&D teams and companies qualifying an upstream production partner than to buyers seeking a catalogue of finished commercial displays. OLED, Micro LED and silicon-based display programmes also make process maturity, yield, transfer, repair and test important parts of the conversation.

The co-location with SEMICON China is useful where the display project shares semiconductor equipment, materials, clean manufacturing, packaging or inspection technologies. C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY or FPD China?

C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY is the more direct October choice for touch modules, display materials, cover products, bonding, commercial display applications and the Shenzhen module-manufacturing chain. FPD China becomes stronger when the requirement moves into panel-factory equipment, core process materials and display manufacturing technology.

Some suppliers may appear in both ecosystems, but the buyer’s evidence request changes. A product team may ask for module drawings, optical data, reliability results and integration support. A factory team needs process capability, supported substrates and formats, throughput, yield data, utilities, automation interfaces, maintenance and acceptance criteria.

April 2027: Chengdu as a regional optoelectronics follow-up

The Western China International Optoelectronic Expo 2027 is scheduled for 27–29 April at Western China International Expo City in Chengdu. The organiser presents a broad scope covering optical communication, precision optics and cameras, sensing and machine vision, laser technology, displays and LED, photonic semiconductors, infrared, aerospace optics and related intelligent-manufacturing applications.

This breadth gives the event a regional full-chain role, but it does not make it a direct substitute for every specialist show in Shenzhen or Shanghai. Its practical value is strongest when the buyer already has a western-China reason for the trip: a Chengdu or Chongqing supplier base, aerospace or sensing application, regional partner, customer project or factory-visit programme.

Let the exhibitor list determine the depth of the trip

The event can support a first regional scan across optical components, communication, sensing, displays and laser manufacturing. Because the published scope is wide, the final exhibitor directory should decide whether a buyer allocates one day or builds a larger Chengdu programme.

If the required suppliers are thinly represented, the exhibition can still function as the meeting point for a regional visit organised around pre-arranged companies. If the relevant segment develops a strong exhibitor cluster, it may provide a more efficient western-China alternative to another general market-mapping trip in Shenzhen or Shanghai.

Which event fits which optical purchasing task?

CIOE offers the widest route and the strongest cross-connection between components, modules, sensing and application systems. Western China Optoelectronic Expo is a regional follow-up when the Chengdu ecosystem is part of the supplier strategy.

Touch modules, display materials and product integration

C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY is the most focused event in this guide. Its material, panel, module and manufacturing scope suits teams connecting an end-product requirement to the display stack.

Panel and next-generation display manufacturing

FPD China is the clearer manufacturing choice. Its Shanghai timing and SEMICON co-location matter when display production shares clean-process, semiconductor, packaging, inspection or automation technology.

Industrial lasers, precision optics and optical metrology

Laser World of Photonics Shanghai should lead. CIOE adds value where the same company also needs communication, sensing, infrared or a wider optical-component map.

A year-long China supplier-development programme

CIOE can establish the broad market map in September. C‑TOUCH & DISPLAY follows in October for display-specific work. Laser World of Photonics Shanghai and FPD China separate laser/optics from display manufacturing in March, while Chengdu provides an April regional route. Most buyers need one primary event and, at most, one specialist follow-up—not all five windows.

Prepare comparable technical evidence before requesting quotations

An optical request becomes easier to compare when each supplier receives the same operating conditions and acceptance method. For components, define wavelength range, optical power or sensitivity, losses, dimensions, interfaces, environmental limits, lifetime and the required test report. For displays, include panel and touch architecture, optical targets, interface, mechanical stack, operating conditions, reliability and annual volume. For laser systems, include the workpiece, process result, cycle time, automation boundary, sample plan and acceptance criteria.

Record the legal manufacturer, engineering location, production site and test responsibility for each candidate. Then distinguish standard catalogue performance from the configuration or process demonstrated for the project. The next step may be a sample, a controlled application test, an engineering review or a factory visit; it should follow the technical uncertainty revealed at the show.
