China’s environmental exhibition calendar contains two different markets. IE expo’s regional editions and Eco Expo Asia bring several environmental systems together: water, waste, air, contaminated land, monitoring, low-carbon technology and environmental management. CRRE, IRRE and Shanghai Metal Recycling Expo go deeper into waste handling, recovered resources and particular material streams.
For a buyer with a mixed environmental project or an early-stage market scan, IE expo Shanghai is the broadest starting point in this guide. For a company buying sorting, shredding, recycling, remelting or recovered-material supply, a specialist recycling exhibition can be much more efficient. Location also matters: Chengdu serves western China, Guangzhou serves the south, Hong Kong provides an international green-business setting, and Shanghai holds both the largest comprehensive platform in this set and two specialist recycling events.
This guide covers seven verified exhibitions from 16 September 2026 to 24 September 2027. It deliberately separates environmental-project procurement from water-treatment process selection; buyers whose requirement is primarily membranes, filtration, pumps or irrigation should use the China water-treatment trade-show guide.

Match the exhibition to the material stream or pollution problem
| Buyer mission | First candidate | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Several environmental systems in one municipal or industrial project | IE expo Shanghai | Widest cross-environment platform in this set |
| Western-China project or regional supplier search | IE expo Chengdu | Brings the broad IE expo scope into Chengdu and western-China networks |
| South-China environmental engineering and local project contacts | IE expo Guangzhou | Regional platform in Guangzhou for water, waste, air and monitoring |
| International green procurement, policy and market partnerships | Eco Expo Asia | Hong Kong setting and broad circular, low-carbon and environmental-business scope |
| Multi-material recycling plant, recovered-resource network or circular-economy equipment | CRRE | Specialist focus on recycling systems, materials and resource reuse |
| Waste treatment and resource utilisation, including industrial and organic residues | IRRE | Process and equipment focus around turning waste streams into usable resources |
| Ferrous or non-ferrous scrap processing and recycled-metal production | Shanghai Metal Recycling Expo | Material-specific route from collection and sorting to remelting and supply |
The event name alone is insufficient. A municipal waste-transfer project, a plastics recycler, a hazardous industrial-residue programme and an aluminium remelter need different suppliers and evidence. Define the incoming stream, contamination, throughput, desired output, local discharge or emissions constraints and the buyer’s responsibility before comparing exhibitions.
IE expo Shanghai: the broadest cross-environment scan
IE expo Shanghai 2027 is scheduled for 20–22 April at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Its scope spans water and sewage, water supply and drainage, waste management and recycling, air-pollution control, contaminated-site remediation, environmental monitoring, low-carbon solutions and related services.
That breadth is valuable when a project crosses several systems—for example, an industrial park dealing with wastewater, sludge, exhaust treatment and monitoring—or when an international buyer wants an initial view of China’s environmental-technology supplier landscape. It also allows engineering firms, equipment manufacturers, service providers and project owners to meet in one place.
Breadth requires preparation. Divide the visit by environmental duty, not by a generic “green technology” theme. A water team, waste team and air-emissions team need separate shortlists, technical inputs and meeting outcomes. For detailed water-process selection, use the dedicated water guide rather than expecting one environmental fair to answer every treatment question.
Three IE expo editions across China
IE expo Chengdu 2026 brings the platform’s water, waste, air, contaminated-land, monitoring and environmental-management coverage to Western China International Expo City. It is the better entry when the buyer’s projects, end users, engineering partners or reference sites are in Sichuan, Chongqing or the broader western market.
IE expo Guangzhou 2027 serves South China from the Canton Fair Complex. Its value increases when supplier meetings need to connect with Guangdong manufacturing, municipal projects, industrial parks or engineering contacts in the Greater Bay Area.
Shanghai is the broader national scan; Chengdu and Guangzhou are regional working platforms. A buyer does not need all three simply because the brand is shared. Multiple editions become worthwhile when the commercial geography is genuinely different, or when a national shortlist must be followed by regional project and reference meetings.
Eco Expo Asia: international environmental business through Hong Kong
Eco Expo Asia 2026 takes place from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. Its official themes include waste management and circular economy, green transportation, green buildings and energy efficiency, water treatment, environmental protection and broader low-carbon solutions.
The fair fits companies seeking an international-facing platform for technology distribution, government and corporate procurement, sustainability partnerships or regional market access. It can be more accessible for mixed commercial and policy delegations than a narrowly engineered equipment show.
Its breadth is also the limit. A buyer with a defined scrap-metal line, plastics washing plant or particular waste-treatment process should compare the specialist mainland events. Eco Expo Asia works best when the mission includes business development and market partnerships alongside product investigation.
China Recycled Resources Exhibition: a broad circular-resource platform
China Recycled Resources Exhibition 2026 runs from 25 to 27 November at Suzhou International Expo Center. The official scope covers recycling equipment, material recovery, resource reuse, recovered-material applications and circular-economy services.
CRRE is useful when the buyer needs to see how collection, sorting, preprocessing, trading and downstream use connect across more than one material stream. Potential workstreams include shredding and separation equipment, baling and conveying, plastics or paper recovery, electronic waste, renewable resources and digital or service systems supporting the recycling chain.
The buying brief should still identify priority feedstocks. “Recycling equipment” is too broad for a useful exhibitor list: moisture, contamination, particle size, hazardous components, target purity, throughput and output market determine which equipment and partners belong in the process.
IRRE: waste treatment and resource utilisation
IRRE Expo 2026 is scheduled for 9–11 December at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Its scope is organised around waste disposal and resource utilisation, including sorting and recycling, organic waste, industrial residues and associated treatment technologies.
It fits buyers who begin with a waste stream and need a route to reduce, separate, stabilise, recover or reuse it. That can involve front-end sorting, size reduction, biological or thermal treatment, residue handling and output-quality control. The event is therefore closer to waste-process engineering than to a broad sustainability conference.
CRRE and IRRE can overlap in equipment and circular-economy language, but they are not automatically a two-show itinerary: they are held in different cities two weeks apart. CRRE is the broader recovered-resource and recycling-chain platform; IRRE is a focused option for waste treatment and utilisation processes. Choose according to the feedstock and desired output, not the number of categories on the brochure.
Shanghai Metal Recycling Expo: follow one material chain deeper
Shanghai International Metal Recycling Expo 2027 runs from 7 to 9 July at SNIEC. Its specialist scope follows scrap metal through collection, sorting, shredding, separation, processing, remelting, recycled products and related services.
This focus matters because a metal-recycling line has its own quality and commercial variables: alloy identification, contamination, coatings, recovery yield, furnace compatibility, emissions, energy, slag, traceability and the specification of the secondary metal. Buyers can compare equipment and output-market requirements in the same material context.
The event should take priority over a broad environmental fair for a company whose investment case depends on ferrous or non-ferrous scrap. A general IE expo edition remains useful when the metal operation also requires substantial wastewater, air-emissions or site-remediation systems, but those are supporting workstreams rather than the core material business.
Seven dates, one useful travel window
The calendar supports several distinct decisions:
- September 2026, Chengdu: broad western-China environmental projects;
- October 2026, Hong Kong: international environmental business and circularity;
- November 2026, Suzhou: recovered resources and recycling systems;
- December 2026, Shanghai: waste treatment and resource utilisation;
- April 2027, Shanghai: the broad national environmental-technology scan;
- July 2027, Shanghai: metal recycling and secondary-metal supply chains;
- September 2027, Guangzhou: South-China environmental projects and suppliers.
The one-year spread helps a company choose the right window; it is not a recommendation to attend seven shows. A national distributor might use IE expo Shanghai for portfolio mapping and one specialist event for technical depth. A project contractor may choose only the regional IE expo edition nearest the work. A recycler may skip the general platforms entirely and use CRRE, IRRE or the metal show according to its feedstock.
What to bring to supplier meetings
For pollution-control equipment, describe the source, concentration or loading profile, operating hours, target limit and site utilities. For recycling, define feedstock composition, contamination, moisture, form and size, throughput, desired recovery and saleable output. Add applicable local rules, available space, automation expectations and the planned boundary between equipment supplier, process designer and operator.
At the exhibition, compare process route, equipment boundary, references and measurable output. After the exhibition, request mass and energy balances, test or pilot evidence, emissions and residue assumptions, materials of construction, maintenance requirements and responsibilities for installation, commissioning and performance. A factory visit can verify production and testing; a relevant operating reference reveals feedstock tolerance, uptime and output consistency.
