China Construction Engineering & Equipment Trade Shows 2026–2027: Machinery, Concrete and Industrialised Building

Compare seven China construction exhibitions for heavy machinery, concrete systems, prefabricated and steel buildings, smart construction and urban projects.

China’s construction exhibition calendar looks like one market until the purchasing brief becomes specific. A contractor comparing excavators and lifting equipment, a flooring company choosing concrete-treatment machinery, and a developer evaluating a prefabricated building system all work in construction, but they need different exhibitors, technical evidence and factory visits. An urban-development delegation has a fourth objective again: understanding how planning, infrastructure and city-operation systems are being applied, rather than buying one machine.

For a broad construction-machinery benchmark, bauma CHINA is the strongest starting point in this selection, with BICES providing a later Beijing alternative in 2027. World of Concrete Asia is the specialist choice when concrete production, placement, surface preparation, flooring or mortar defines the project. CIHIE and Steel Build form one co-located Guangzhou trip for integrated housing and steel construction; BIC in Shanghai gives prefabricated construction a wider design-to-production and digital-construction context. Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo is useful for urban projects and policy-led applications, but it should not replace an equipment or building-system show.

This guide covers seven verified exhibitions from August 2026 to September 2027. It excludes decorative finishes, doors and windows, HVAC, building controls, general hardware and hotel interiors because those purchasing missions are covered by separate guides.

Seven exhibitions, six realistic sourcing trips

Exhibition Dates and city Distinct role in the market
World of Concrete Asia 2026 12–14 August, Shanghai Concrete, flooring and mortar systems, from production equipment and materials to surface preparation and application tools
Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo 2026 30 October–1 November, Shanghai Urban renewal, infrastructure, digital city management, green construction and project applications
bauma CHINA 2026 23–27 November, Shanghai Large construction and mining machinery ecosystem, building-material production equipment, components and services across two venues
CIHIE 2027 8–10 May, Guangzhou Integrated and prefabricated buildings, modular systems, components, production technology and supporting materials
Steel Build 2027 8–10 May, Guangzhou Steel structures, space frames, metal building materials, fabrication equipment and intelligent steel construction, co-located with CIHIE
BIC 2027 26–28 May, Shanghai Building industrialisation from architecture and structure through prefabricated production, smart construction and digital engineering
BICES 2027 22–25 September, Beijing Construction, building-material and mining machinery for buyers seeking a 2027 equipment window in northern China

CIHIE and Steel Build share dates and a venue, so they are one Guangzhou journey with two specialist sections. The other five exhibitions fall into separate travel windows.

Begin with the object being purchased

Heavy machinery for a jobsite or fleet

This brief starts with the work to be done: excavation, lifting, concrete handling, road construction, mining, aggregate processing, material transport or another defined operation. The comparison must connect capacity and configuration to ground conditions, duty cycle, transport limits, operator model, parts supply and service responsibility. bauma CHINA and BICES are the relevant broad events.

The two should normally be treated as alternatives, not a compulsory pair. bauma CHINA offers the earlier and wider international benchmark in Shanghai. BICES gives buyers a September 2027 decision point in Beijing and is rooted in China’s construction-machinery industry organisations and end-user network. A buyer who has already narrowed a supplier list by late 2026 may use BICES for a later model, service or regional comparison; a buyer planning a first national scan should usually begin with bauma.

A concrete, flooring or mortar process

World of Concrete Asia follows a much narrower technical chain. Its official categories include concrete production, concrete surfaces, flooring, mortar and gypsum, formwork and scaffolding, steel processing, testing and application technology. This makes it useful when the purchasing question concerns how a material will be mixed, placed, pumped, finished, treated, repaired or tested.

A general machinery fair may show concrete pumps, mixers or construction vehicles without the same concentration of surface preparation, floor systems, mortar technology and application tools. For a concrete contractor, flooring specialist, precast producer or building-material manufacturer, that depth is usually more valuable than a larger but less focused equipment universe.

A prefabricated, modular or steel building system

Here the product is not one machine. The buyer has to connect architectural design, structural system, components, interfaces, factory production, site assembly, envelope, fire and corrosion strategy, transport and local approval. CIHIE, Steel Build and BIC serve this mission from different angles.

CIHIE gives integrated housing and prefabricated building systems a dedicated Guangzhou platform. Steel Build, held at the same time and venue, narrows the route to steel structures, metal building materials, space structures and related fabrication or construction technology. BIC in Shanghai covers a broader industrialised-building chain, with architecture and software, structural systems, prefabricated components and production equipment, smart construction, green materials and digital engineering.

Urban construction and city-operation applications

Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo belongs in the guide for a different reason. Its value lies in the project environment around construction: urban renewal, infrastructure operation, digital city management, green development, public space and the application of building technology at city scale. It can help developers, public-sector delegations, engineering consultants and solution providers understand where systems fit into an actual urban programme.

Its role is project and application context rather than a long list of excavator, precast-line or steel-fabrication suppliers. A defined equipment or building-system requirement still belongs with the corresponding specialist show.

August 2026: World of Concrete Asia for a process-led brief

World of Concrete Asia runs at Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 12 to 14 August. The show’s combination of concrete, flooring and mortar lets a buyer move through a construction process rather than through unrelated product categories.

A ready-mix or precast team can begin with batching, mixing, conveying, reinforcement, formwork and quality control. A flooring contractor can follow substrate assessment into grinding, polishing, coating, levelling and finishing. A mortar or gypsum producer can compare formulation inputs, production systems, spraying or application equipment and performance testing. These connected routes still need separate briefs rather than one vague request for “construction materials”.

Bring the actual substrate or product specification, target output, working environment, local standards and the failure modes the project needs to avoid. A demonstration may show productivity or finish quality under exhibition conditions. The next step should reproduce the proposed process with the buyer’s material, thickness, climate, curing regime or surface requirement.

If the company is also planning general earth-moving, lifting or mining-equipment purchases, bauma in November is a separate decision window. The three-month interval gives time to test concrete-system candidates before the broader machinery trip; it is not a reason to postpone a focused August project.

October and November 2026: project context first, machinery scale later

Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo takes place from 30 October to 1 November. bauma CHINA follows later in November. Both relate to construction, but their agendas should remain distinct.

Use the city expo to understand applications and stakeholders

For an urban-renewal, infrastructure or smart-city programme, the city expo can expose how local authorities, developers, designers, engineering groups and technology providers frame projects. Topics such as existing-building renewal, underground space, digital construction, urban safety, water and infrastructure operation can reveal the parties and system boundaries that a supplier must address.

That is useful before technical meetings when the buyer is still defining whether a requirement belongs to design, civil works, equipment, software, operation or long-term maintenance. Record named project references and the role each company actually performed. A solution shown in a city case may have been delivered by a consortium; the booth company may own only one layer of it.

Plan bauma as two venues, not one oversized hall

The organiser has expanded bauma CHINA 2026 into a two-venue edition in Pudong. Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center operates from 23 to 26 November, while Shanghai New International Expo Centre operates from 24 to 27 November. The combined visitor window therefore runs from 23 to 27 November, but the route still depends on sector allocation and the different opening days.

The official scope spans construction vehicles and earth-moving machinery, building-material machines, mining and raw-material processing, lifting and conveying, components, testing, controls and services. Separate the visit by equipment family and application. A distributor comparing compact equipment and attachments needs a different route from a quarry operator evaluating crushing and screening, or a building-material producer planning a plant line.

Use meetings to establish configuration, application references, delivery scope, operator training, parts model and service coverage. Large machines reward early appointment-setting: the technical person responsible for a region, an application or a particular configuration may not remain on the stand throughout the show. The bauma CHINA trip-expansion article examines one specialised mobility and service overlap; buyers without that workstream can keep the trip entirely construction-led.

May 2027: Guangzhou and Shanghai answer different prefab questions

CIHIE and Steel Build open in Guangzhou from 8 to 10 May. BIC follows in Shanghai from 26 to 28 May. The 16 full days between the events make a two-city programme possible only when the interval has a job: factory visits, project meetings, sample review or engineering workshops. Otherwise, choose the event that matches the building system.

CIHIE and Steel Build: one Guangzhou programme

CIHIE is the broader integrated-housing and prefabricated-building route. It is relevant to modular accommodation, prefabricated homes, building components, production technology and the supporting materials that turn a structural concept into a deliverable unit. Steel Build sits alongside it with deeper attention to steel structures, metal building materials, space frames and intelligent steel construction.

Treat the two as one exhibition programme. Build one project breakdown and divide the co-located route by system responsibility:

  • CIHIE for complete modular or prefabricated solutions, integrated units, components and production concepts;
  • Steel Build for primary and secondary steel, connection and fabrication questions, metal envelope interfaces and structural delivery;
  • joint meetings where one supplier group claims responsibility for both structure and completed module.

For an overseas modular project, arrive with shipping envelope, target module size, design loads, climate and corrosion category, fire and acoustic requirements, utilities strategy, local code route and intended site-assembly model. Ask who owns engineering, shop drawings, structural calculations, certification evidence, procurement, factory assembly and installation supervision. “Turnkey” has little meaning until those responsibilities are named.

BIC: industrialised construction across design, factory and site

BIC is the better Shanghai choice when the buyer needs to study the industrialised-building process as a whole. The organiser groups architecture and consulting, building structures, prefabricated production equipment, smart construction, green materials, digital engineering, formwork and scaffolding. That structure supports decisions about how design data moves into component production and then into site assembly.

It is particularly relevant to developers, contractors, precast producers, design institutes and technology teams evaluating BIM-linked production, component factories, production tools or digital site coordination. A complete modular-building buyer may find broader turnkey proposals at CIHIE; a steel specialist may prefer the density of Steel Build. BIC earns its place when interfaces between design, component production and construction method are the central question.

If all three are important, use the interval between Guangzhou and Shanghai deliberately. A small set of factories with different roles—such as a modular integrator, a steel fabricator and a precast or production-equipment supplier—can carry unresolved interface questions into BIC. Staying in China for more than two weeks merely to wait for the second exhibition is rarely efficient.

September 2027: BICES as the northern machinery window

BICES runs from 22 to 25 September at China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi) in Beijing. Its organiser base includes the China Construction Machinery Association and machinery-industry trade bodies, and its official scope centres on construction, building-material and mining machinery.

This timing makes BICES useful in three situations: a project budget falls into the second half of 2027; a company wants a northern-China equipment and service network; or a shortlist developed at bauma needs a later comparison against current configurations and suppliers. If the buying decision must be made in early 2027, bauma provides the practical earlier window.

For distributors, clarify territory, brand and channel expectations before the show. For contractors and asset owners, bring operating conditions, utilisation, fuel or power constraints, attachment requirements, telematics expectations and the local maintenance model. For mining and quarry projects, add material characteristics, feed and output targets, wear conditions and the complete process around the machine.

Prepare evidence by system boundary

Construction procurement becomes difficult when suppliers describe different scopes with the same words. Before travel, draw the system boundary. For machinery, identify the material or task, working cycle, operating environment, required output, transport constraints, attachments, operator model and maintenance responsibility. For a production line, add input and output specifications, utilities, controls, inspection points, changeovers and acceptance conditions.

For prefabricated or steel buildings, separate design responsibility, structure, envelope, finishes, MEP interfaces, transport, foundations, site assembly and approval documentation. Give every serious candidate the same project basis. Ask them to mark inclusions, exclusions and information still required instead of accepting a headline price per square metre.

The exhibition should reduce the field to a few next actions: a technical proposal against the same brief, reference evidence for a comparable application, a factory or completed-project visit, and an agreed verification or test plan.
