China Oil, Gas & Offshore Equipment Trade Shows 2026–2027: A Buyer’s Guide

Compare eight China oil, gas, pipeline, offshore, marine and hazardous-area equipment exhibition records across three practical buyer trips in Guangzhou and Beijing.

A shipowner looking for propulsion equipment, an EPC team qualifying pipeline packages and an offshore operator sourcing subsea systems may all search for an “oil and gas exhibition in China”. Their supplier lists, technical documents and reasons for travelling are nevertheless quite different. The calendar becomes even more confusing in Beijing, where one large cippe exhibition week is represented by several specialist exhibition names.

For the broadest oilfield and petrochemical equipment search, cippe Beijing is the main sourcing event in this guide. INMEX China is the more direct route for shipbuilding, vessel systems and the wider maritime supply chain. Beijing Energy Congress serves a different purpose: it is a conference-led place to discuss energy strategy, projects and partnerships before individual equipment packages are ready for comparison.

The eight database records below therefore represent only three trips. Six of them belong to the same cippe dates and venue in March 2027. Buyers should use those names to navigate technical sections within one exhibition ecosystem, rather than plan six separate visits or assume that every brand has a fully independent exhibitor population.

Choose the trip from the asset being bought

The simplest way to separate these events is to identify the asset that will receive the equipment.

A vessel, shipyard or port project leads to INMEX. Its product structure follows ship design, construction and operation: engines, propulsion, shipboard equipment, advanced materials, navigation, communications, ports and marine services. Offshore energy appears through the vessels, structures and systems required to work at sea.

An oilfield, refinery or petrochemical project leads to cippe. The umbrella show spans exploration and production, drilling, surface facilities, refining and petrochemical equipment, fluid machinery, electrical and automation systems, maintenance and industrial services. Its specialist names then help the team divide the halls by work package.

A pipeline, terminal or LNG infrastructure project should make CIPE the principal cippe route. An offshore field-development package should combine CIOOE and the relevant cippe equipment halls. A platform, offshore vessel or broader marine-engineering package should add China Maritime. A hazardous-area electrical or instrumentation package should reserve time for EXPEC. An unconventional gas programme can use CISGE to concentrate the search around drilling, fracturing, completion and water management.

An executive team still shaping an investment, market-entry or partnership plan may obtain more from Beijing Energy Congress than from walking equipment halls. Its value is in the combination of strategic and technical conferences, project discussion and an exhibition, not in competing with cippe for the deepest catalogue of valves, rigs or pressure equipment.

December 2026: INMEX for ships and the working maritime economy

INMEX China is the twelfth edition of the Guangzhou maritime exhibition. The organiser’s current plan places more than 500 participating brands across zones for shipbuilders, marine equipment and materials, smart ships, propulsion, navigation, smart-ocean technology, offshore wind, cruise and yacht systems. Those figures are organiser projections, but the zone structure is what makes the show distinct: it follows a vessel and its operating environment rather than a petroleum production process.

When INMEX should lead

INMEX is the direct choice for shipowners, yards, vessel designers, fleet technical teams, port operators, marine distributors and offshore-support companies. A buyer may compare:

  • main and auxiliary propulsion, generators and shipboard power;
  • pumps, valves, deck machinery, anchors, chains and handling systems;
  • navigation, communications, automation and vessel monitoring;
  • hull, coating, insulation and other marine materials;
  • port equipment, repair, maintenance and marine services;
  • equipment for offshore support, offshore wind and specialised working vessels.

The practical distinction from CIOOE is the operating asset. CIOOE begins with finding and producing offshore oil and gas; INMEX begins with the vessel, shipyard and marine operation. A company buying subsea production equipment may prioritise CIOOE, while a company specifying the propulsion, bridge, deck or safety systems of the service vessel supporting that field may find INMEX more productive.

Prepare a vessel package, not a generic marine enquiry

Start with vessel type, newbuild or retrofit status, class and flag requirements, operating area, duty cycle, available utilities and the interfaces already fixed by the designer or yard. A propulsion discussion needs the operating profile, fuel, power demand, gearbox and shaft arrangement, emissions target and machinery-space constraints. Navigation and communications need the bridge architecture, required functions, interfaces and approval route. Deck and offshore-handling equipment need loads, sea state, corrosion environment, foundation and control requirements.

For a retrofit, include the existing maker, model, drawings, measured space and shutdown window. This quickly separates a catalogue item from an engineered replacement that can be installed, approved and serviced within the vessel’s operating plan.

January 2027: Beijing Energy Congress for projects and partnerships

Beijing Energy Congress is scheduled for 13–15 January at the China National Convention Center. Its programme connects oil and gas, LNG, hydrogen, renewables, nuclear power, electrification, digital energy, manufacturing and logistics. This cross-sector scope is useful when the decision concerns infrastructure, investment or collaboration across more than one technology.

The 2027 event is the inaugural Beijing Energy Congress. That creates an opportunity to meet participants around a new international platform, but it also means buyers should review the published exhibitor and conference lists before treating it as a mature equipment-sourcing fair. A strong speaker programme may justify a strategy trip even when the available product stands do not cover every procurement package.

The questions that fit this format

The Congress becomes relevant when a buyer needs to understand:

  • which Chinese project developers, technology companies or engineering partners fit a planned market;
  • how LNG, gas-fired power, hydrogen, renewables or electrification connect within one infrastructure programme;
  • where policy, financing, logistics or cross-border partnership affects the technical route;
  • whether a project should move from early discussion to a defined prequalification or tender process.

Bring a short project brief covering location, development stage, energy input and output, capacity range, proposed business model, decision owners and the partnership being sought. The intended result is a small set of credible counterparties and clearly assigned next steps. Detailed equipment comparisons can then move to cippe or another technology-specific event once process conditions and package boundaries are known.

March 2027: treat cippe as one equipment week

cippe Beijing is scheduled for 17–19 March at the China International Exhibition Center in Shunyi. The organiser presents it as the 27th edition and currently projects 2,000 exhibitors across 138,000 square metres. More important for a buyer than the headline scale is its engineering span: exploration, drilling, production, pipelines, storage, refining, petrochemicals, pressure and fluid equipment, industrial electrical systems, automation, safety, maintenance and services appear within one oil-and-gas context.

The names CIOOE, CIPE, CISGE, EXPEC and China Maritime describe specialist routes running with the main event. They make the database searchable for a buyer who knows the work package, but they should not be added together when estimating the number of independent exhibitions or exhibitor bases.

Use the cippe umbrella when the project spans several packages or when an EPC, distributor or operator needs a broad supplier scan. Exploration and drilling equipment, well completion, surface production systems, process and petrochemical machinery, fluid handling, pressure vessels, power, cables, controls, instruments, digital systems, maintenance and safety can be reviewed in one visit.

Divide the buyer team by package rather than asking everyone to walk every hall. A rotating-equipment lead may cover pumps, compressors and seals; an E&I lead can handle hazardous-area electrical, instruments and controls; a pipeline lead can focus on line pipe, valves, welding and integrity; and an operations representative can examine maintainability, spares and field service. Their daily notes should use the same project identifiers and interface assumptions so the supplier list can be recombined after the show.

CIOOE for offshore production equipment

CIOOE follows the offshore hydrocarbon chain from exploration and drilling into subsea production, wellheads, platforms, FPSO systems and field services. It is suited to an operator, offshore EPC, drilling contractor or package buyer whose technical boundary is the production field rather than the vessel supply chain.

Prepare the water depth, reservoir and well basis, development concept, design life, environmental loads, material and corrosion requirements, flow-assurance conditions and interfaces between subsea, topside and export systems. Meetings can then separate complete system providers, package manufacturers, component suppliers and service contractors.

CIPE for pipelines, storage and terminals

CIPE is the midstream route. Its scope covers pipe and fittings, pumps, compressors and valves, welding and non-destructive testing, corrosion protection, leak detection, inspection and integrity, tanks, transport systems and LNG infrastructure.

A comparison sheet should state the transported medium and composition, pressure and temperature range, flow, diameter, route environment, materials basis, valve class, inspection method and applicable project standard. For an LNG or storage terminal, add tank or loading interfaces, boil-off handling, hazardous areas, metering and emergency-shutdown philosophy. These details allow a supplier to respond to a duty rather than merely present a product family.

CISGE for unconventional gas operations

CISGE concentrates on geological work, directional drilling, hydraulic fracturing, completion, gathering, treatment and the fluid and water systems associated with shale development. Its relevance depends on an actual unconventional-gas workstream. A conventional refinery, terminal or general pipeline project will usually find stronger matches elsewhere in the cippe halls.

Useful meeting inputs include geology and well design, expected pressure and temperature, lateral and stage concept, fluid system, proppant, pumping duty, completion architecture, water source, flowback and produced-water plan, site logistics and environmental limits. The aim is to compare an operating chain and the responsibility of each contractor, not isolated horsepower or tool specifications.

EXPEC for hazardous-area electrical and instrumentation

EXPEC organises the search around equipment used where explosive atmospheres may occur: motors, switches, control enclosures, lighting, instruments, communications and monitoring, together with testing and certification services. This makes it relevant across production sites, pipelines, terminals, refineries, chemical plants and marine facilities.

Prepare the project’s zone or division, gas group, temperature class, ambient conditions, ingress protection, supply and control interfaces, cable-entry method and required certification route. The same enclosure may not be acceptable for every gas, temperature or jurisdiction. Asking suppliers to map certificates, product variants and manufacturing sites to the exact offered model is more useful than collecting a general “explosion-proof” claim.

China Maritime for platforms, vessels and subsea engineering

China Maritime broadens the offshore route from extraction equipment to offshore platforms and modules, FPSO-related systems, working vessels, subsea equipment, platform steel and piping, marine communications, fire and safety systems, and offshore wind. It is the bridge between the petroleum project and the engineering assets that support work at sea.

Choose China Maritime over CIOOE as the main route when the buying list is led by platform construction, marine systems, offshore vessels or a wider offshore-energy asset. Combine both sections when field production and the marine platform or support fleet sit in the same project. Keep the package sheets distinct: a subsea production system, a platform module and a vessel system have different design authorities, approvals and service conditions even when they meet on the same offshore development.

Build a three-day cippe route from the package list

The organiser’s current hall plan provides a useful starting map: drilling and related oilfield equipment are concentrated in the eastern halls; shale gas, fluid machinery, instruments and electrical equipment appear around E3; natural gas, explosion-protected equipment and safety around E4; offshore oil and offshore engineering in W1 and W2; and pipeline, fluid and instrumentation equipment around W3. Final allocations can change, so the released exhibitor directory and floor plan should replace this provisional map before travel.

A workable visit has three layers:

  1. Priority meetings: suppliers already screened against a live project package, with enough time for drawings, standards, manufacturing role and reference discussion.
  2. Category scan: one hall route for alternatives, specialist technologies and suppliers that were absent from the advance list.
  3. Joint interface meetings: selected pump, valve, instrument, control, process or service suppliers brought together around a package boundary that would otherwise be resolved after the show.

Reserve the final afternoon for unresolved shortlist gaps and second meetings. China Maritime’s published 2027 visitor schedule closes at 14:00 on the third day, so treating Friday as another full exhibition day would leave too little time for critical follow-up.

Which event should lead the shortlist?

Shipbuilding, vessel equipment or port operations

Start with INMEX China. Add China Maritime in March when the buying mission extends into offshore platforms, specialised offshore vessels or subsea engineering.

Upstream oilfield, refinery or petrochemical equipment

Start with cippe. Use its specialist routes to divide a broad package list without treating them as separate trips.

Offshore field development

Lead with CIOOE for drilling and production systems. Add China Maritime for platforms, marine systems, vessels, subsea assets or offshore wind interfaces.

Pipelines, LNG terminals or storage

Make CIPE the main cippe route, then add EXPEC for hazardous-area electrical and instrumentation packages where required.

Shale-gas development

Use CISGE for the unconventional drilling, fracturing, completion and water-management chain, supported by the wider cippe supplier base.

Energy strategy, market entry or cross-sector partnerships

Consider Beijing Energy Congress. Confirm the final speaker, delegate and exhibitor lists against the organisations the project actually needs to meet.

Prepare one project brief and several technical sheets

Begin with a two-page project note: asset and location, development stage, process boundary, operating environment, applicable standards, delivery model, schedule and the decisions expected from the China trip. Then attach technical sheets only for the packages assigned to each event or hall.

For process and mechanical equipment, define medium, composition, duty, pressure, temperature, flow, materials, corrosion allowance, utilities and maintenance strategy. For electrical and instruments, define hazardous-area classification, power and signals, control-system interfaces, environmental protection and certification. For marine packages, add vessel or platform basis, class and flag requirements, loads, motion, vibration, corrosion and installation interfaces.

Also state the supplier role being sought: original manufacturer, licensed producer, system integrator, engineering contractor, service company or distributor. That distinction matters in oil, gas and marine projects because the company presenting a complete package may manufacture only part of it. A clear responsibility map makes the exhibition useful without turning every booth meeting into a full audit.
