For a building-block buyer, the model on a toy stand is the end of an experience. The product a customer takes home is a box of parts and instructions. A visit to the Shantou (Chenghai) Toys & Gifts Fair 2026 becomes more useful when those two versions of the product are considered together.
The full fair runs 29 October–1 November 2026 at Shantou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The first two and a half days are reserved for professional buyers, which is why the listing highlights 29–31 October. Plan the main buying conversations early, then consider a prearranged Chenghai manufacturer meeting if there is a complete retail sample worth examining in more detail.
Choose the set, not only the model
Shantou’s show covers finished toys, building blocks and manufacturing inputs. For a retailer or distributor choosing construction sets, that breadth is most useful when the intended customer is clear. Explain whether your range serves a casual gift purchase, family building activity or a more involved hobby project. Ask the supplier which proposed set matches that use and what information supports the recommendation; the appearance of a finished model does not answer the question by itself.
During the professional buying window, request the reference of the complete retail set, its packaging, instructions and parts list. Ask how the components are grouped inside the box and whether an unopened sample can be supplied. This makes it possible to review the steps a customer will follow, rather than only the finished object on display.
Also establish what kind of order you are discussing. Selecting an existing branded collection is different from developing a new set or changing its packaging. For an existing range, clarify the products and sales channels covered by the proposed offer. For development, identify which changes the supplier is prepared to evaluate and who will review the next sample. Do this before arranging an off-site meeting so that the right product colleague is involved.
A Chenghai meeting with a relevant manufacturer
Double Eagle is a named local candidate for this follow-up. Its official website presents CaDA building-brick sets alongside remote-control toys and hobby models, and its business-inquiry page gives an address at Xingda Industrial Park, Chenghai District, Shantou. That combination of product relevance and a local commercial contact makes it worth researching for a building-set buyer. It does not establish participation in the 2026 fair or availability for a factory visit.
Send the selected set reference, the intended retail channel and the questions left from the fair before requesting an appointment. Ask whether the team can provide the boxed set and instructions, rather than only a completed display model. If you are considering a moving mechanism, ask to discuss both its operation in the assembled model and how the instructions explain its construction. The purpose is to understand what you would put on the shelf.
In the meeting, compare the box contents with the parts list and follow a selected stretch of the instructions. Note any point where an illustration, bag sequence or component reference needs clarification. Agree how a buyer reports a missing or damaged part and what information the supplier needs to identify it.
A product meeting can be worthwhile without becoming a production audit. Confirm the actual meeting location, the people attending and the materials available before setting off. Factory or workshop access requires a separate agreement. If the company cannot show the relevant retail sample, request it for a later review instead of adding a visit with no clear purpose.
Keep the early fair days for buying
Reserve 29–30 October and the professional portion of 31 October for the main supplier discussions. The municipal announcement describes the final day and a half as public-facing; it does not publish an exact clock time for the changeover. Confirm the admission arrangements and current registration route with the organiser before finalising appointments.
A local meeting later in the trip can then follow a specific shortlist. Schedule it only after the host confirms availability and the meeting point in Chenghai; leave travel time within Shantou rather than treating the industrial address as another exhibition hall. There is no need to wait until the full public programme ends on 1 November if your buying work is complete, nor to leave an important professional appointment to accommodate an uncertain visit.
The next step should be an agreed retail sample and a short feedback list: the exact set, the version of the instructions, any packaging changes to assess and the person who will respond. Review the full build separately if it cannot be completed during the meeting. The trip has done its job when your team understands both the model it wants to sell and the boxed experience it is asking a customer to buy.
