A promising camera demonstration leaves an embedded-product team with several questions: what data comes out, which board can process it, and who will make the two work together? CIOE 2027 and elexcon 2027 are announced for 8–10 September at Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center. That shared window gives a team a practical way to investigate optical sensing and the computing hardware behind the finished device without adding another city.
Combine the two when you are buying a camera- or sensor-based product that also needs embedded processing. Keep CIOE as the anchor for optical performance, then use selected elexcon meetings to test whether the proposed board, software support and power requirements fit. A buyer purchasing lenses or optical components to an already settled design may gain more from staying with the CIOE shortlist.
Carry one project brief between the optical and board suppliers
CIOE’s visitor profile covers cameras, camera modules, imaging systems, machine vision and intelligent sensing. The organiser’s joint-event description positions elexcon around electronic components and embedded hardware, including edge-AI boards. This is a useful division of meeting priorities, not a claim that one exhibition supplies the entire optical section and the other guarantees a compatible computer.
Before travelling, describe the scene the device must observe and the decision it must make. For a vision project, that might include working distance, lighting, field of view, smallest feature of interest, motion and acceptable delay. Have the engineering team decide which requirements matter; buying the camera with the highest headline resolution can add cost and processing work without improving the actual task.
Ask the CIOE candidates to identify the exact output format, interface, frame-rate conditions and software resources supplied with the sample. Bring those answers to the embedded-board meeting. Discuss whether the offered board supports that connection, which drivers or development tools are included, and what processing, memory, power and thermal demands remain to be checked. A connector with the right shape is not confirmation of a working camera-to-board combination.
Separate three offers that can otherwise look deceptively similar: a bare component, a module with supporting software, and an integrated device. Compare the development work left to your team as well as the unit price. If one company offers integration, ask which parts and software versions its proposal covers and who maintains the combination when a component changes.
Make the second exhibition a scheduled work session
Begin with the CIOE meetings that establish the optical shortlist. Once there are credible candidate outputs and interfaces to discuss, reserve a defined elexcon session for relevant board or component suppliers. Leave time to return to the optical supplier with specific compatibility questions rather than trying to finish two entire exhibitions in parallel.
The organiser advertises shared badge access across the co-located exhibitions. Confirm how your visitor registration covers the intended shows, then check the current floor plan and allow time between halls. The organiser’s joint page contains some older programme material alongside its explicit 2027 announcement, so use the final edition-specific schedule for conferences and meeting bookings.
For a team, the optical and embedded specialists can split some meetings if both use the same brief and agree who owns the interface decisions. For a solo buyer, a short list of purposeful appointments is more manageable than collecting unrelated camera, processor and board quotations. The added session should answer a question that would otherwise require a separate supplier round.
Leave with a testable pair, not two impressive demonstrations
Ask the selected suppliers to identify the camera or sensor sample, board configuration, firmware or driver version and the software needed to reproduce the proposed setup. Agree who will assemble the first bench test, what information the other supplier must provide and which results will determine the next purchase. If access to a sample or software is still uncertain, record that before treating the combination as ready for development.
Evaluate the pairing under your own working conditions. A booth demonstration may use different lighting, image content, cooling or processing settings from the proposed device. Those differences belong in the test plan, alongside integration costs, production availability and support responsibility. Your engineering team should set acceptance criteria rather than converting a successful show demonstration into a production promise.
The combined trip is strongest when optical and computing choices remain linked. If the board design is fixed, the camera is already qualified or your purchase is solely an optical material, component or processing machine, the elexcon session may add little. Use that time for deeper CIOE comparisons or a follow-up with the supplier that can resolve the remaining product question.
