UTECH Asia 2026: Plan a Shanghai PU Development Meeting

Connect PU China material comparisons with a focused Shanghai application meeting, using a defined product requirement and a verified Minhang R&D contact.

The word polyurethane can describe materials used in insulation, footwear, seating and many other products, but those applications do not share a single purchasing specification. At UTECH Asia / PU China 2026, on 3–5 November at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, buyers can connect material choices with machinery and mould requirements. The useful local extension is an application-development meeting when a particular product question remains unresolved.

For a team choosing a polyurethane material or system for its own manufacturing project, Shanghai’s technical resources may help define the next evaluation. For a buyer ordering finished components, finding the right converter and agreeing the finished-part specification will often be the more immediate task. A research-centre visit is worthwhile only when it addresses the decision you actually own.

Start with the application, then identify the supplier role

The organiser identifies raw-material manufacturers and importers, machinery suppliers and buyers from construction, automotive, bedding and footwear among the event’s audience. That breadth is useful because material, equipment and mould decisions can interact. It does not mean every supplier can deliver every finished polyurethane product.

Clarify whether you are buying a material input, a supported material system, processing equipment or a manufactured part. If several suppliers are involved, identify who will coordinate the material choice with the intended process and who will be responsible for the finished component. This gives the booth conversations a common purpose without expecting a raw-material producer to act as your component manufacturer.

Turn performance claims into a comparable evaluation

For an insulation application, describe the intended component, its service conditions and the performance information your customer needs. Ask what sample or product was used for each reported result and what test method and conditions apply. A result for a material sample is not automatically the result for a complete panel or assembled product.

The same purchasing discipline applies to a different PU application: agree the property that matters and the evidence needed to compare candidates. Bring the existing specification, relevant drawings and any current evaluation results your team is entitled to share. Discuss those requirements with your technical specialists before arranging a supplier trial, so the proposed work can answer a defined question rather than produce another attractive sample.

Record what the material supplier will provide and what must be evaluated by the converter or finished-product team. The outcome sought is a comparable assessment plan; any formal compliance claim or acceptance decision requires the appropriate product-specific evidence and qualified review.

A named R&D contact in Minhang

Huntsman’s China site describes its polyurethane business and lists a Shanghai R&D campus at 479 Wenjing Road, Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone. It separately identifies headquarters at 455 Wenjing Road and a polyurethane production location at 452. Those distinctions make the R&D campus a specific contact to investigate for an application discussion, not a generic instruction to visit a chemical factory.

Ask the company whether the relevant application team can review your project and which location and entrance to use. Confirm the proposed participants and what information should be sent beforehand. The published address does not guarantee access to laboratories, a demonstration or a meeting during the exhibition week. Huntsman is included as a research candidate, not an endorsement or a confirmed PU China 2026 exhibitor.

Agree whether the meeting will review existing data, discuss a possible material candidate or define a later trial. If further testing is appropriate, clarify the sample required, who arranges the work, how the result will be reported and when the next decision can be made. A discussion at a technical centre need not—and often cannot—complete that work on the day of the visit.

Protect the exhibition time and book the right follow-up

The fair is in Pudong, while the Wenjing Road campus is in Minhang. Reserve a separate travel-and-meeting block, check the actual route with the host and fit it around your important 3–5 November appointments. Confirm availability before changing accommodation or departure plans; the person needed for the project may be working at the show or at another site.

If your requirement is still broad, use PU China to identify the right material and manufacturing conversations first. If the specification is already defined and the appropriate team agrees to review it, a local meeting can turn that shortlist into a practical evaluation plan. When the necessary data or staff will not be available, scheduling a prepared remote review is a better use of the follow-up than adding a visit with no decision attached.

Check the event website or organiser contact for current visitor-entry arrangements. The website’s exhibitor login is not a substitute for a verified visitor-registration route, and registering for the exhibition does not arrange a company appointment.
