RACC Expo 2026: How to Plan an HVACR Factory Sourcing Route in Zhejiang

Use RACC Expo to compare HVACR, heat-pump, refrigeration and cold-chain suppliers, then verify selected products and processes through a focused Zhejiang factory route.

HVACR sourcing crosses several different businesses: complete air-conditioning units, refrigeration systems, heat pumps, cold-room packages, compressors, heat exchangers, controls, refrigerants and installation materials. A buyer who treats them as one product category soon receives quotations with incompatible performance conditions and scope. RACC Expo 2026 provides a practical place to divide that chain into sourcing tracks before visiting selected manufacturers in Zhejiang.

The show runs from 22 to 24 October at Hangzhou Grand Exhibition Center, close to the airport. The factory extension should begin only after the buyer has matched products to climate, application and destination-market requirements. It is not a general tour of every exhibitor claiming a Zhejiang connection.

Define the application before comparing equipment

Start with the actual duty. For comfort air conditioning, record building type, area, indoor conditions, design ambient, occupancy, ventilation, heat gains and control zones. For refrigeration, add product, pull-down or holding duty, room volume, loading pattern, door openings, evaporating and condensing conditions and permitted temperature variation. Heat-pump projects need source and delivery temperatures, seasonal ambient range, backup strategy and hot-water or process profile.

For cold-chain equipment, distinguish storage, display, transport, rapid freezing, food processing and pharmaceutical use. A supermarket display cabinet, blast freezer, refrigerated vehicle and controlled medical store cannot be compared through nominal capacity alone.

The buyer brief should also state:

  • destination country and installation environment;
  • electricity supply, refrigerant restrictions and applicable standards;
  • required certification and test-report route;
  • expected annual volume or project quantity;
  • branded, OEM, ODM or project-supply model;
  • controls, language, connectivity and remote-service needs;
  • packaging, spare parts, documentation and target delivery date.

This brief becomes the common basis for every booth and factory meeting.

Split RACC into four sourcing tracks

The organiser groups the show around air conditioning and ventilation, refrigeration and cold storage, cold chain, plus components and raw materials. Convert those categories into separate workstreams.

Complete equipment and systems include residential or commercial units, chillers, air handlers, ventilation, heat pumps, refrigeration packs and cold-room solutions. Compare rated performance only at the same test conditions, then examine controls, noise, defrost, part-load behaviour and installation boundary.

Core components include compressors, motors, fans, valves, heat exchangers, copper products, controllers and sensors. The central questions are application envelope, selection data, material, process capability, testing, traceability and change control.

Cold-chain delivery covers cabinets, quick-freezing, ice making, refrigerated transport, storage panels and doors, monitoring and logistics services. Here, temperature uniformity, recovery after loading, insulation, condensation, cleaning and service access matter alongside efficiency.

Materials and installation include refrigerants, insulation, piping, fittings, tools and auxiliary equipment. Regulatory acceptability, compatibility, installer practice and field quality can determine system safety even when the main unit is sound.

Avoid letting a strong component supplier automatically qualify as a system provider, or a trading catalogue stand in for verified manufacturing responsibility.

Make performance claims comparable at the booth

Ask suppliers to quote against the same duty sheet. Record capacity, input power, efficiency metric, ambient and fluid temperatures, refrigerant, fan or pump allowance, tolerances and referenced test method. A headline COP, EER or cooling capacity is not comparable if the rating points differ.

For export products, request the exact model covered by each certificate or report. Confirm whether testing was completed by the supplier, an accredited third party or a component manufacturer. Review electrical safety, pressure equipment, refrigerant, electromagnetic and energy-labelling requirements for the target market with qualified specialists.

Commercial quotations should separate equipment, controls, optional accessories, packaging, tooling, commissioning, freight basis, spares and warranty. For systems, clarify who supplies piping, valves, panels, electrical cabinets, sensors, installation and performance testing.

Use the show to request engineering selection files rather than only brochures. The strongest candidates should be able to explain why a model fits the stated application, what happens outside the design point and which inputs remain uncertain.

Decide which factories deserve a visit

The organiser’s current exhibitor material includes manufacturers across Hangzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing and other Zhejiang locations, covering heat exchangers, controls, refrigeration products and valves. That makes a regional route realistic, but the actual plant address and production role must be confirmed for every candidate.

Prioritise visits where the factory can show the process relevant to the shortlisted product. A component route might focus on valve machining and assembly, heat-exchanger tube and fin processing, brazing, leak testing, controller assembly or compressor testing. A complete-equipment route may require sheet-metal work, coil production, refrigeration charging, electrical assembly, performance laboratories and final inspection.

Ask before booking:

  • Which product family is made at this address?
  • Which processes and tests are performed in-house?
  • Can the engineering, quality and export teams attend?
  • Can the proposed model, line and laboratory be seen?
  • How much time is needed and what information is restricted?
  • Is the exhibitor also the contracting and exporting entity?

Two well-chosen sites usually reveal more than a day of short courtesy tours.

Follow one product through the manufacturing process

At the plant, begin with the bill of materials, approved components and incoming checks for one shortlisted model. Follow production through forming or machining, joining, cleaning, assembly, evacuation and charging where applicable, electrical work, controls, testing, nameplate and packaging.

For heat exchangers, examine material specification, fin geometry, tube expansion or brazing, cleanliness, pressure and leak testing, corrosion protection and traceability. For valves and precision components, review material verification, machining capability, dimensions, cleanliness, assembly and functional tests. For complete refrigeration or heat-pump units, examine refrigerant handling, vacuum and charge controls, electrical safety, pressure tests, end-of-line performance and software version control.

Ask the team to demonstrate how a finished serial number traces back to key components, process records and test results. Review how non-conforming units are contained and how engineering changes reach purchasing, production and service documentation.

The factory visit should also test capacity. Compare stated output with line configuration, shifts, bottlenecks, seasonal demand and outsourced work. A large workshop does not prove capacity for the buyer’s exact model.

Build a route around process and geography

Use the first show day to map suppliers, the second for engineering meetings and the third to close evidence and appointment gaps. Schedule factory visits for the following one or two business days, allowing time for actual road transfers from Hangzhou.

Group nearby sites only when the product logic also makes sense. One route may connect heat exchangers, valves and refrigeration controls; another may focus on heat pumps or commercial cold-chain equipment. A distant factory should earn its place through a clearly stronger product fit or process that cannot be checked closer to Hangzhou.

Send a written agenda before each visit and carry the same checklist. At the end, agree samples, missing reports, quotation revision, test plan and responsibility. Photographing machines without linking them to the proposed product produces little procurement evidence.

Compare the complete supplied system

Final evaluation should cover performance at relevant conditions, product scope, certification, manufacturing responsibility, quality controls, installation needs, spares, service and lifecycle cost. For projects, add system design, commissioning, controls integration and performance guarantees. For distribution products, add catalogue stability, mixed-model orders, packaging, technical support and warranty handling.

Refrigerant choices require particular care because market rules and service availability differ. Ask what alternatives are supported, what design changes they require and how they affect capacity, efficiency, pressure, components and technician competence. Treat regulatory confirmation as a separate task for the destination market.

The completed 2025 RACC reported 607 exhibitors across 50,000 square metres and 41,012 professional visitors from 106 countries and regions, including 2,507 overseas visitors. Its distinction is the combination of full-chain HVACR breadth and an export audience. The Zhejiang factory route converts that breadth into evidence for the buyer’s own system, market and operating conditions.
