Printing equipment earns its value through the jobs it can run repeatedly, not through a headline speed shown under ideal conditions. PRINT CHINA 2027 brings prepress, presses, digital and industrial printing, packaging conversion, labels and finishing into one event. For an international buyer, the practical opportunity is to compare complete production routes against the work the factory actually needs to deliver.
The sixth PRINT CHINA is scheduled for 12–16 April 2027 at Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center in Dongguan. Before travelling, decide which investment question the visit needs to answer.

This distinction keeps a broad exhibition manageable. A buyer seeking a folding-carton line needs a different route from a commercial printer adding short-run books, or a label converter evaluating variable data and embellishment.
Start with representative production jobs
Bring three to five job packs that reflect the proposed workload. Each pack should include the artwork or test file, substrate specification, format, colour requirements, image coverage, variable content, coating or curing method, finishing steps, batch length, inspection criteria and an accepted physical sample where available. Add the current setup time, saleable running speed, waste, staffing, recurring defects and production bottlenecks.
Separate fixed requirements from preferences. Food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and industrial packaging may have different needs for inks, migration controls, traceability, codes, inspection and documentation. The buyer should define which requirements apply to the actual product and destination market rather than asking a machine supplier to assume them.
For every demonstration, record the exact material and operating conditions. A speed figure has limited meaning without substrate weight and surface, sheet or web width, ink coverage, quality setting, drying or curing load, inspection level, operator intervention and acceptable waste. The comparison should use saleable output after quality checks, not the fastest moment during a prepared run.
Compare the line, not an isolated machine
Map the proposed route from file receipt to packed output. Depending on the application, this may include workflow and imposition, colour management, plate making or a digital front end, feeding, printing, drying or curing, inline inspection, coating, laminating, foil, die-cutting, slitting, folding, gluing, binding, code verification and packing.
Then mark every interface between suppliers. Confirm who owns file compatibility, colour data, material handling, line control, mechanical and electrical connections, data exchange, safety integration, commissioning and final output. A fast press will not recover time lost through slow changeovers, unstable substrate, manual inspection, unmatched finishing capacity or repeated transfer between disconnected systems.
For an upgrade project, compare the proposed equipment with the installed base. Record required utilities, floor loading and layout, environmental conditions, network and software dependencies, upstream and downstream speeds, operator skills and planned shutdown time. A technically capable unit can still be a poor investment if integration creates a new bottleneck or an unplanned production interruption.
Consumables also belong in the comparison. Identify qualified inks, coatings, plates, blankets, chemicals, tooling and replacement parts; expected consumption and shelf life; local availability; approval rules for alternatives; and the effect of changing a consumable on colour, adhesion, curing, registration or warranty.
Plan a controlled demonstration
Agree the trial before the meeting. Hold the job file, substrate source and batch, consumables, colour reference, measurement method, inspection threshold and required output samples constant across the comparison. Ask the exhibitor to state any requested substitutions in advance. If the intended configuration cannot run at the venue, define a later supplier-site trial rather than treating a different machine or prepared sample as equivalent evidence.
During the run, measure setup and changeover time, stable saleable speed, waste before and during production, registration, colour consistency, defects, stoppages, operator tasks and the time needed to restart after an interruption. For labels or packaging, include the relevant converting, embellishment, inspection and code-reading steps. For variable data, follow the job from data preparation to verified printed output and rejected-item handling.
Keep samples from the beginning, stable middle and end of the run, with the machine configuration and measurement results attached. If a result depends on later tuning, record the open point and the repeat test required. This creates a usable bridge between a show demonstration and a factory acceptance plan.
Turn the shortlist into an acceptance plan
A supplier visit becomes useful when the decision depends on the proposed build, integration method or service capacity. Confirm which activities occur at the address before arranging the visit. The review may cover engineering and application support, assembly, critical bought-out systems, software and version control, calibration, test records, configuration release, factory acceptance, packing, installation preparation, training, spares and remote support.
For a multi-supplier line, nominate the line integrator and write down responsibility at each interface. The acceptance plan should state the agreed jobs, materials, output quality, saleable throughput, waste, changeover, inspection, data exchange, safety checks, documentation and recovery from common stops. It should also distinguish factory acceptance from site acceptance after installation, utilities and operator training are available.
Normalize commercial proposals around the same scope. Keep base equipment, options, tooling, software licences, integration, freight, installation, commissioning, training, initial consumables, recommended spares and service coverage in separate fields. Record delivery assumptions, excluded work, warranty start, response arrangements and the cost of later capacity or software changes.
The final decision matrix should connect each representative job to the proposed configuration, demonstrated evidence, remaining trial, acceptance criterion, quoted scope, interface owner, operating effect and next decision. This makes PRINT CHINA a working investment stage rather than a collection of impressive but disconnected demonstrations.
