KBC and DOMOTEX 2027: One Shanghai Trip for Bathrooms and Flooring

Combine Kitchen & Bath China with DOMOTEX for a hotel or apartment refurbishment brief, with separate venue days and coordinated bathroom and flooring samples.

For a hotel or apartment refurbishment that includes both bathrooms and guestroom or corridor flooring, Kitchen & Bath China 2027 and DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2027 can justify one Shanghai trip. Use KBC for the bathroom package and a separate DOMOTEX day for floor coverings. If your live purchase is limited to taps, showers and sanitaryware, stay with KBC: another exhibition is useful only when it advances a second buying decision.

The timing works, but the geography matters. Kitchen & Bath China runs 26–29 May 2027 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong. DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR runs 26–28 May at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in the Hongqiao/Qingpu area. They are not in the same exhibition complex.

Two purchasing packages for the same room

At KBC, the organiser’s product scope includes sanitaryware, taps, shower enclosures and bathroom furniture, alongside its wider kitchen offering. For a room refurbishment, that makes it a place to build a bathroom shortlist around the actual room layouts: a compact shower room and a larger suite may need different dimensions, fittings and storage even when they share a finish palette.

DOMOTEX adds a different product search. Its published categories include carpets and carpet tiles, resilient flooring, wood and laminate flooring, plus installation and floor-care technologies. A buyer choosing guestroom floors and corridor coverings can use that range to compare material families, sample appearance and the practical implications of replacing damaged areas.

The connection is the project, not a claim that the two shows sell interchangeable products. A carpet or resilient-flooring category listing does not establish that a particular product is appropriate inside a shower or another wet zone. Define which surfaces are being sourced at each show; let the project’s design and installation teams assess product suitability and the bathroom-to-bedroom junction.

Protect a full day for the other side of Shanghai

SNIEC’s official address is 2345 Longyang Road, Pudong. NECC publishes entrances including 333 Songze Avenue, Qingpu. Both venue areas have metro access, but crossing Shanghai, reaching the correct entrance and walking to meetings still consume buying time. Treat them as separate working days, with routes checked against your hotel and confirmed appointments.

One workable allocation for a KBC-led visit is:

  • 26 May — KBC: discuss bathroom configurations, collect finish samples and identify the suppliers that deserve a second meeting.
  • 27 May — DOMOTEX: work through the preselected guestroom and corridor flooring categories, with the same room plans and colour references.
  • 28 May — KBC: return to resolve bathroom details and compare shortlisted finishes with the flooring samples or documented sample references.
  • 29 May — optional KBC follow-up: retain this only for confirmed meetings or unfinished buying work; verify the final-day programme before relying on it.

The organisers currently list DOMOTEX’s final day, 28 May, as closing at 15:00. Do not leave the whole flooring search until after the KBC programme ends: DOMOTEX will already have closed. If a key flooring appointment falls on 26 or 28 May, swap the venue days rather than trying to preserve this example itinerary exactly. Arrange admission for each event through its own current visitor channel.

One room brief, two technical conversations

Bring a compact room schedule showing room types, quantities, locations, the target installation period and which finishes are already fixed. Add a floor plan, bathroom elevations where available, and labelled colour or material references. This lets both supplier groups work from the same project without pretending that one quotation can cover every interface.

For the bathroom package, record the exact configuration behind each offer: dimensions, installation arrangement, tap and shower finish, associated components and what the quoted set actually includes. Ask how replacement cartridges, seals or other service parts would be identified and ordered after the project opens. A matching display colour is not enough if two quotes describe different assemblies.

For the flooring package, specify the room or corridor use, installation method being considered, substrate information available from the project team, cleaning routine and replacement strategy. Ask for the proposed product’s technical documents, installation guidance and sample reference. Compare the complete offered system, including any necessary underlay, adhesive or accessories, rather than comparing only the visible surface price.

Use the bathroom-to-bedroom threshold as a joint review point. Finished heights, edge details and the treatment of the wet/dry boundary should be resolved with the designer and installer using the selected products. A conversation at either exhibition can reveal missing information; it cannot by itself confirm that the complete room assembly will work.

Make the second venue earn its place

The useful output is a coordinated pair of shortlists, not a larger bag of brochures. For every shortlisted item, retain its supplier, model or sample identifier, intended room location, quoted configuration and the open question preventing approval. Photograph samples with their labels and request physical samples when a screen image cannot settle the finish decision.

After the two venue days, the team should be able to choose which bathroom and flooring combinations deserve a mock-up or further technical review. Keep the two supply packages commercially clear while sharing the design references that join them. This makes follow-up specific: a revised shower configuration, a different corridor-flooring sample or a confirmed edge detail, rather than a general request for another catalogue.

If flooring decisions are already fixed, the flooring buyer is not travelling, or the project lacks enough information for a meaningful supplier discussion, use the extra day for KBC follow-up instead. The combined trip is strongest when both purchasing packages are active and one team can bring the findings back into the same room design.
