FENESTRATION BAU CHINA 2026 and R&W: A Combined Sourcing Trip

Connect window and facade sourcing with waterproofing at the same Beijing venue, using one building-opening detail to guide discussions across both shows.

A window quotation can describe the frame, glazing and hardware in detail while leaving a project buyer with another question: how will this assembly connect to the wall around it? That is a useful reason to extend a visit to FENESTRATION BAU CHINA 2026 into the co-located China International Roofing & Waterproofing Expo (R&W). Both take place on 28–30 October 2026 at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi), Beijing; the waterproofing exhibition identifies halls E3 and E4. FBC organiser information and waterproofing organiser’s current visitor notice.

Combine them when your purchasing team needs to coordinate the window or facade package with the waterproofing around building openings. Use FBC to select the system, then take the same project detail to waterproofing suppliers before returning to the window shortlist. If your job is limited to buying hardware, profiles or complete windows against an already-approved installation design, concentrate on FBC unless that design leaves a specific material question unresolved.

The useful addition is the connection around the window

FBC focuses on doors, windows and curtain walls, and its announced programme includes window-installation demonstrations and competition activity. The companion’s published exhibit profile includes waterproofing membranes, coatings and exterior-wall or window waterproofing. That gives a project buyer a credible reason to cross between the shows: one discussion concerns the assembly being purchased, while the other can address the surrounding materials and their proposed application. FBC programme and Roofing & Waterproofing Expo exhibit profile.

For example, a refurbishment team may be keeping an existing wall while replacing the window. Ask the window supplier where its supplied assembly ends, and ask the waterproofing supplier which part of the surrounding junction its product is intended to address. A new-build project may instead be choosing a window system alongside a wall build-up that is still being designed. In that case, the useful outcome is a coordinated proposal for the designer to review, not two independently attractive samples.

The distinction also prevents unnecessary detours. Much of a roofing and waterproofing show serves roof systems, below-ground structures and other construction work outside a window buyer’s remit. Select the relevant suppliers from the current exhibitor information before arriving at E3 or E4; a broad product category does not establish that a particular manufacturer is exhibiting or has the exact application solution you need.

Take one junction drawing to both conversations

Bring a simple section through the proposed opening, with the frame position, wall materials and existing or proposed waterproofing identified. Include the sill, head or side junction that is causing uncertainty rather than handing over an entire project file without a question. Your designer should identify the performance requirements; the purchasing team’s job is to obtain precise product and installation information against that same detail.

At FBC, ask the system supplier to identify what is included in its offer and what the installer must provide separately. Clarify the exact frame/system reference and the proposed installation method. Where a demonstration is relevant, use it to ask how the shown method relates to your wall construction and opening dimensions. Keep that answer attached to the product proposal so it can be checked later, rather than treating a photograph of a completed installation as the detail itself.

At the waterproofing show, use the same drawing and identify the surfaces to which each proposed material would connect. Ask for the exact product references, the manufacturer’s stated substrate preparation and any compatibility evidence relevant to the proposed combination. If a supplier changes the material or the application sequence, mark the change and take it back to the window supplier. This makes the second exhibition a way to resolve a purchasing question instead of simply adding more brochures.

Keep questions about who supplies, installs and supports each part in the same discussion. A window quotation and a waterproofing quotation may leave an intermediate operation with neither party. Ask the relevant suppliers to state the limits of their proposed scope, then have the project team assign the work. Co-location creates an opportunity to compare answers; it does not create a shared design responsibility or a joint warranty between exhibitors.

Build the itinerary as a return visit, not two separate tours

Start on 28 October with the FBC suppliers that best match the window or facade package. Identify the unresolved junctions before committing time to the waterproofing halls. Send a marked-up drawing to suitable companion-show contacts and arrange a focused discussion for 29 October. These are suggested appointment blocks, not an organiser programme.

The R&W organiser confirms E3 and E4 at the same Shunyi complex, so this combination does not require a cross-city transfer. Use the current floor plan for the actual route and meeting locations. Its 2026 visitor notice says that one preregistration provides access to the linked exhibitions; use the organiser’s current instructions and confirm badge/check-in requirements for your visitor category. Official 2026 co-location and registration notice.

Leave time to return to the shortlisted FBC suppliers with the waterproofing answers. That return is where the combined trip can change a purchase: a proposed material may need confirmation, an installation task may need an owner, or a supplier may need to revise its offer. FBC’s published schedule ends at 14:00 on 30 October, so use the final morning for agreed follow-up rather than assuming a full final day. FBC dates and hours.

If the responsible designer is not travelling, arrange a remote review of the marked-up detail while the suppliers are still available. Where the project design is too early to identify a relevant junction, a brief companion visit may help map supplier types, but it is unlikely to settle product selection. Give the main FBC meetings priority until the project questions are concrete enough to benefit from the second show.

Leave with a proposal the project team can review

For each retained option, keep the window-system reference, proposed waterproofing product references, annotated junction and unanswered questions together. Ask for the documents or further checks needed to substantiate the combination. A performance report for a window unit and information about a waterproofing material concern different parts of the work; neither alone establishes how the assembled junction will perform on the buyer’s building.

Have the responsible designer or facade specialist decide what additional compatibility checks, samples, mock-ups or project-specific tests are needed. Exhibition demonstrations support questions and supplier selection; they are not approval to substitute products or install an unreviewed detail. The value of this combined Beijing trip is a shorter path between two relevant supplier conversations, with clearer information for the people who must approve and execute the work.
