CITEXPO 2027: Plan Tire Supplier Meetings and Factory Visits

Build a tire import shortlist in Shanghai, then choose between a local supplier meeting and a separate trip to the plant that will fill your order.

A tire distributor can leave an exhibition with several promising brands and still have an incomplete buying plan. One supplier has the passenger sizes that sell fastest; another is stronger in truck tires; a third offers private label, but the minimum quantity applies separately to each pattern. The useful question is what an additional day in China would resolve: the range and commercial offer, or the production behind it.

CITEXPO 2027, on 1–3 September at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, is a good starting point for that decision. Our recommendation is to use Shanghai for product and supplier comparison, keep a local follow-up appointment available, and add an onward factory trip once the intended production site and meeting purpose are clear. A headquarters discussion can settle distribution terms; a production visit answers a different question.

Leave the fair with an order mix, not just a favourite tire

CITEXPO covers tires and wheels as well as production inputs, machinery and aftermarket equipment. For an importer buying finished tires, the most useful comparison is a plausible first order: the sizes, patterns and quantities that would actually go into stock. An equipment buyer needs a different route through the fair and different factory hosts.

Bring a compact size list with intended vehicle use, destination market and expected replenishment volumes. For commercial tires, identify the axle position and service conditions; for a passenger range, show which sizes form the core stock and which can be ordered less frequently. Suppliers can then distinguish current production from sizes requiring a future production run or new tooling.

Ask how the proposed order works across patterns. A low price on one popular size may be less useful than a slightly higher offer that allows a practical mix and predictable replenishment. Clarify minimum quantities by size, what can share a shipment, and who handles warranty claims in your market. These are also good subjects for a quieter meeting after the show.

Before choosing a factory destination, connect each serious offer to its brand, seller and intended manufacturing plant. The organiser’s 2025 report discusses exhibitors’ overseas factories: a Chinese supplier relationship does not necessarily mean the quoted tires will be manufactured in China. That makes plant selection part of travel planning, not a detail to leave until arrival.

Stay in Shanghai when the remaining questions are commercial

An office meeting can be the better extension when you need the export team to review a distribution territory, price list, replenishment plan or sample order. Ask for the people responsible for your destination market and product family, and send the open questions before the appointment. The value comes from having the right team at the table, rather than from visiting an impressive building.

Giti Tire’s Shanghai office is one concrete contact to investigate if its product range matches your shortlist. The company’s official website lists 280-2 Linhong Road, Changning District, and separates passenger and commercial tire ranges. This is an office contact, not a publicly accessible tire factory. Ask whether it can host your specific sourcing discussion and which entity would handle supply to your market.

The office is on the western side of Shanghai, while CITEXPO is in Pudong. Give the appointment its own half-day rather than placing it between exhibition meetings; check the transfer against your hotel and flight plans. A meeting near your departure airport may work well, but the host’s availability and your airport choice should determine the order.

Giti is an appointment candidate, not a supplier endorsement or a confirmed 2027 exhibitor. The same applies to other companies named here: verify participation separately when the new exhibitor list becomes available, and arrange all visits directly in advance.

Make an onward journey about a named site

ZC Rubber offers a useful example of why headquarters and factory must be treated separately. Its official organisation page places the headquarters at No. 1, No. 1 Street, Qiantang District, Hangzhou, while also listing operations outside China. Its range spans passenger, commercial and specialist tires. A Hangzhou meeting could therefore be relevant to a distributor exploring its brands, but the headquarters address alone does not establish where a particular order would be made.

If ZC Rubber is on your shortlist, first ask whether the next discussion belongs with the commercial team in Hangzhou or at a production site. For the latter, obtain the plant address, relevant tire range and agreed access before changing travel bookings. Hangzhou is a separate intercity leg, not a quick stop next to the Shanghai exhibition. Allow for station transfers and the road journey to the actual address, not just the advertised train journey between city stations.

The same reasoning applies if another supplier proposes a plant elsewhere in China. A visit earns its place when it can resolve something that affects the order: whether the intended range is in regular production, how samples will match the quoted specification, or how the plant manages the mix you need. Ask the host to prepare evidence and a relevant production route. A general company presentation can usually be handled in Shanghai or online.

For a wheel-and-tire package, keep the supplier discussions separate until the required fitment is clear. A tire factory tour will not answer every question about a wheel supplier’s dimensions, load suitability or manufacturing process. Your technical team should define the evidence needed for the assembled application.

Work with the 2027 calendar

The fair runs Wednesday to Friday. That leaves a weekend immediately afterwards, which matters more than it first appears when arranging business visits.

Time Suggested use
Tuesday, 31 August Arrive, review the size list and confirm exhibition appointments.
Wednesday–Thursday, 1–2 September Compare ranges and order mixes; identify the next discussion for each serious supplier.
Friday, 3 September Resolve remaining questions at the show and agree samples or follow-up meetings.
Saturday–Sunday, 4–5 September Use for a confirmed transfer or personal time. Treat a weekend supplier meeting as something to arrange explicitly, not a normal office assumption.
Monday, 6 September Hold the accepted office or plant appointment, if the host has confirmed this date and the visit justifies staying.

For a buyer who cannot stay through the weekend, a pre-show Shanghai appointment or a well-prepared meeting during the fair may be more useful than extending the trip. An onward visit can also take place later, after samples and a revised quotation have narrowed the choice. There is no need to commit to a factory destination just because it is the last day of CITEXPO.

Give the next meeting something concrete to finish

Send the supplier your proposed order mix, outstanding commercial questions and the exact samples you want. For a production visit, add the product family and the specific process or evidence your team needs to see. Ask for confirmation of the host, site and agenda together.

The result should be a revised offer you can compare, a sample plan tied to the intended supply, and a clear next decision. Destination-market approvals and performance testing still need the appropriate technical review; this itinerary does not replace it. If those next steps can be agreed at the exhibition, ending the trip in Shanghai is a sound outcome. If a named site can resolve a remaining production question, the extra journey has a clear purpose.
