A cream sample, an attractive bottle and an appealing minimum order can look like a product ready to launch. At a beauty exhibition, they may come from three different businesses. The development work begins when somebody has to make that formula, fill that bottle and deliver the agreed finished product. A well-prepared meeting in Hangzhou can connect those decisions while the samples and conversations are still fresh.
For a brand commissioning skincare, use CiE 2027, on 4–6 March at Hangzhou International Expo Center, to build a small development shortlist, then arrange a focused local meeting if the relevant team can work through it with you. A distributor choosing an established brand needs a different follow-up: territory, product documentation and commercial terms. An OEM visit is useful for developing your own product, not a default extra stop for every beauty buyer.
Give the formula and the package the same brief
CiE’s published offer includes finished brands, packaging suppliers and OEM/ODM resources. This makes the show useful for connecting a product concept with the companies behind it. It also means that a promising conversation at one stand may leave another supplier responsible for a crucial part of the order.
Start with one proposed product rather than an entire launch range. For a serum, specify the intended format, fill quantity, preferred dispensing method and target customer experience. For a cream, include the texture reference and proposed jar or pump. State the intended destination market at the beginning, so suppliers can identify what they can support and what needs separate specialist review.
Ask the manufacturer who will source the packaging and who will assess the formula in the selected container. If you nominate a bottle supplier, give both parties the same reference and request complete samples, including the closure or pump. A bottle price and a formula price are not yet a quotation for a filled, decorated and packed product. Separate those elements so the later comparison remains understandable.
A Xiaoshan appointment lead for skincare projects
Hangzhou Chenglin Bio describes skincare OEM/ODM services covering creams, liquid products and masks. Its own contact page lists Building 4, No. 1 Chunjiang Road, Qiaonan Development Zone, Xiaoshan, Hangzhou. This gives a skincare buyer a specific local company to investigate rather than a vague instruction to “visit cosmetics factories”.
Send the proposed product and sample requirements before asking for an appointment. Confirm whether its development and production teams handle the format you need, whether they can support your destination market and where the meeting would take place. A formula discussion, packaging review and production visit involve different preparation. Ask which can actually be arranged during your stay.
The company is an independently researched appointment candidate, not an audited supplier, a confirmed CiE 2027 exhibitor or a guaranteed host. Ask shortlisted manufacturers for current evidence supporting the certifications and product-performance claims relevant to your project, and have it reviewed by the appropriate specialists.
Both the exhibition and this published contact are in Xiaoshan, but they are separate locations. Reserve a dedicated local appointment block and reconfirm the reception address before arranging transport. Another supplier’s “Hangzhou” address may be in a different district or point to an office rather than the proposed production site.
Put the samples in front of the people who will use them
For the follow-up, organise a compact set of labelled samples: the reference formula or benchmark product, the proposed primary pack and the decoration or carton idea. State which parts are fixed and which remain open. A supplier can give a more useful response when it knows whether you are choosing from an existing formula, adjusting one or commissioning a new development.
Discuss minimum quantities by component as well as for the filled product. The bottle, printed decoration and finished batch may have different minimums. Ask how the supplier would handle any imbalance and what remains yours if the first order uses fewer packs than the packaging run. These are practical questions for a development meeting, not assumptions about the company’s standard terms.
Agree the next samples, who prepares them and what each sample is intended to show. If compatibility or stability work is needed, establish the proposed testing plan and timing with the responsible technical team. A pleasant texture demonstration at a meeting does not establish long-term performance in the final package. The visit helps organise that work; it does not compress the testing into an afternoon.
Fit the meeting around CiE, not around an unfinished sample
The 4–6 March exhibition runs from Thursday to Saturday. If a supplier is already on your shortlist, arrange a pre-show briefing or a separate half-day during the visit. For a new contact, use the first exhibition conversations to decide whether the required people and materials can be ready in time. There is little benefit in extending the stay while the manufacturer is still waiting for your bottle or product specification.
A useful meeting can end with a defined sampling project: formula reference, pack reference, indicative quantities, responsibilities and the next review date. That is more concrete than leaving with an undifferentiated “OEM quotation”. If the next sample takes longer to prepare, continue from home and reserve a later visit for a decision that genuinely requires being at the site.
