China Composites Expo 2027: Plan Shanghai Supplier Visits

Turn composite samples into a focused material, equipment or finished-part discussion, with Shanghai appointment leads and a practical plan for the next trial.

Two composite panels can look similar on an exhibition stand while representing very different purchases. One company is selling the resin used in the panel, another the equipment that moulded it, and a third the finished component. A buyer looking for a lightweight cover, corrosion-resistant housing or production line can collect all three brochures, yet still need to decide who should receive the next drawing and quotation request.

China Composites Expo 2027, on 8–10 September at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, brings these supply stages together. The most useful extension is a meeting or trial with the company responsible for the part of the project you are actually buying. Start with that choice, then select the visit. A materials discussion and an equipment demonstration can both be valuable, but they should not become a compulsory two-stop itinerary.

Decide whether the next purchase is material, machinery or a part

For an existing composite manufacturer, the question may be whether a new resin or reinforcement works with its current process. The next host should be able to discuss the proposed grade, processing conditions, sample supply and technical support. Buying a material that requires different equipment can change the economics of an apparently simple substitution.

An equipment buyer instead needs to connect the proposed machine with a material and component. A winding line, moulding press or resin-handling system has a purpose within a larger production sequence. Ask what arrives at the equipment, what leaves it, and which preparation, tooling, finishing and inspection steps remain outside the offer. That gives an equipment meeting a useful agenda before anyone proposes a factory tour.

A buyer outsourcing a finished part needs the company that will manufacture it. Resin and fibre suppliers can help explain material options, but a quote for resin does not include the tooling, processing, trimming or assembly needed to deliver a component. Ask the part supplier to separate prototype tooling from production tooling and to identify operations it would subcontract.

This distinction makes the fair easier to use. It also prevents a supplier visit from becoming a persuasive presentation about a process that does not fit your purchase.

Give the suppliers one component to discuss

Bring a drawing, a non-confidential simplified geometry or a reference component, together with the required quantity and operating conditions. Explain what needs to improve: weight, stiffness, corrosion resistance, surface appearance, manufacturing time or cost. Mark requirements that are already fixed and those still open to supplier proposals.

A material datasheet can begin the conversation, but ask what the reported result describes. A fibre value, a flat laminate coupon and a finished component are different evidence. For example, a curved panel with inserts needs attention to how the shape and attachment points are made, not just the strength quoted for a flat sample. Your engineering team should choose the relevant acceptance tests.

Use that same brief in subsequent meetings. When a supplier changes the resin, reinforcement or process, ask for the revised proposal to identify the change explicitly. You can then compare genuine alternatives instead of treating every offer labelled “carbon fibre” or “glass fibre” as equivalent.

Two Shanghai contacts, for different purposes

Swancor Advanced Materials — a resin application discussion. The company’s official website presents thermosetting-resin products and composite applications. Its contact page lists locations in Songjiang, including Songsheng Road and a separate technology-building address on Dingsheng Road. It is a relevant contact to investigate when the open question concerns the resin system and the application support available for your process.

Ask which team can discuss your intended component, how it would supply trial material and what processing information should accompany it. Confirm the actual receiving address and whether the meeting is at an office, application facility or production location before arranging transport. Multiple published addresses should not be treated as interchangeable factory entrances.

Shanghai Sower — a resin-processing equipment discussion. The organiser’s existing supplier profile describes fine-chemical equipment, including resin-processing equipment. Sower’s own website covers mixing, dispersion, vessels and production-system services. It lists a Shanghai office at Room 2110, 547 Tianmu West Road, Jing’an District.

That contact can be relevant if you are buying equipment for resin preparation or handling. Send the intended material, batch size and process requirement first, then ask whether an engineering meeting or a separately arranged equipment demonstration is appropriate. The office address is not evidence that a production trial can happen there. A finished-composite-part buyer would normally have a different first appointment.

These are independent research leads, not endorsed suppliers, confirmed 2027 exhibitors or a proposed partnership between the two companies. Participation in the new edition and permission for any visit must be confirmed. Choose the contact whose work matches your brief; there is no reason to visit both simply because they are in Shanghai.

Agree what a trial would settle

For a material trial, agree the exact grade and reinforcement, how the sample will be processed, what geometry will be made and who will assess the result. Ask how trial quantities will be packed and handled, and whether technical support covers your intended process. Keep any proposed alternative clearly identified so that the result can be traced back to what was actually used.

For an equipment discussion, work through one representative batch or component. Ask which preparation and cleaning steps are included, what must be supplied by the buyer, and whether the demonstration uses the proposed material or a substitute. A demonstration can establish the next engineering question without proving every requirement of a production installation.

For a finished-part supplier, the useful next step may be a quotation and sample plan rather than an immediate factory visit. Agree the drawing revision, tooling responsibility, finishing operations and what the sample is intended to demonstrate. If the design is still changing, an engineering meeting may be more productive than travelling to see a production line built for a different component.

Safety-critical performance, chemical handling and final process approval belong with appropriately qualified specialists. Business visits can bring the relevant people and evidence together; they cannot replace those decisions.

Place the appointment where it helps the trip

The 2027 exhibition runs Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 September at NECC, on the western side of Shanghai. That is a different venue from the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong. Use the venue’s full name when arranging a hotel or driver.

If you already have a material or equipment shortlist, a pre-show appointment on Tuesday 7 September can clarify what to look for at the exhibition. If the show itself will determine the shortlist, keep the return plan flexible until a host accepts a useful follow-up. A Saturday visit needs explicit agreement; a Monday appointment on 13 September means staying through the weekend and should justify those extra days.

Songjiang and central Jing’an are different directions from the fair. A single appointment with time to review the outcome is a stronger starting plan than fitting both into an optimistic transfer schedule. Check the actual address, traffic and meeting duration before combining stops. Suppliers elsewhere in Jiangsu or Zhejiang may eventually warrant an intercity visit, but the right production capability should determine that journey, not a generic regional tour.

The trip is ready to end when the next proposal or trial is clear: the supplier knows the component, you know what it will supply, and both sides know what evidence is needed next. If that can be achieved at CCE, further travel can wait. If an application discussion or demonstration will materially advance it, Shanghai offers specific contacts to investigate while you are already there.

Official sources and update

Checked 7 September 2026. The organiser publishes the 2027 dates; older supplier profiles are used for research, not as a 2027 attendance list. Reconfirm registration, receiving addresses, technical hosts and trial access before booking visits.
