China Bearing Exhibition 2026: How to Plan Supplier and Factory Visits

Match bearing suppliers to real operating duties at the Shanghai exhibition, then verify process control, testing and traceability at selected plants.

Bearings are easy to compare badly. Two suppliers can quote the same boundary dimensions and basic designation while proposing different internal designs, materials, heat-treatment routes, clearances, seals, greases and inspection levels. Those differences may be invisible in a catalogue and decisive once the bearing runs under load, heat, contamination or repeated start-stop cycles.

The 20th China International Bearing Industry Exhibition takes place from 9 to 12 December 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The organiser describes a 55,000-square-metre exhibition covering finished bearings, special production equipment, precision measurement, components, transmission products and lubricating greases, with around 1,000 exhibitors projected. The scope lets a buyer examine both the bearing and much of the manufacturing system behind it during the same event.

The useful way to extend this show is not to collect a larger stack of catalogues. It is to arrive with one defined operating duty, separate the companies that can actually own that duty from traders and process specialists, and reserve factory appointments for the uncertainties that the exhibition cannot resolve.

Begin with the operating duty, not only a part number

A bearing code is a starting reference, not a complete sourcing brief. Before the trip, prepare one sheet for each priority application. Include the mating shaft and housing, radial and axial loads, speed range, duty cycle, target life, temperature, lubrication method, contamination, shock or vibration, noise limit, installation method and expected annual demand.

The China Bearing Industry Association’s 2026 collection of special and non-standard products illustrates why this matters. It asks manufacturers to relate products to the main machine and installation position, and identifies duties such as high speed, heavy load, low noise, low vibration, low friction torque, high or low temperature, dust, corrosion and long-life operation. These are not interchangeable marketing claims; each can change the bearing geometry, steel, heat treatment, cage, seal, grease and validation plan.

Bring the evidence behind the current problem as well. A failed bearing, lubricant sample, vibration spectrum, temperature record, sectioned component, drawing or installation photograph is often more useful than a general request for “better quality”. Remove customer-confidential information where necessary, but preserve enough context for an application engineer to diagnose the failure mode.

Use three different routes through the exhibition

Because the fair covers products and production technology, not every relevant stand belongs in the same shortlist. Divide the visit into three routes before assigning meetings.

Finished-bearing sourcing

Use this route for standard or modified products that will be bought in repeat quantities. Confirm the manufacturer of record, the production location for the quoted series, normal and controlled-clearance options, material and heat-treatment specification, cage and seal configuration, grease, inspection level, packaging and export experience.

For replacement or distribution programmes, availability, range breadth, anti-counterfeit controls and lot traceability may matter as much as a custom design. For OEM use, link every proposed substitution to the application duty and approval process rather than accepting dimensional interchangeability as proof of equivalence.

Application-specific and non-standard development

This route begins with an engineering question rather than a price list. Ask who performs load and life calculations, lubrication and sealing selection, tolerance-stack review, failure analysis, prototype design and validation. Establish which inputs the supplier needs and which assumptions it will make if data are missing.

The expected result is not an instant quotation. It is a development path: agreed inputs, preliminary selection or drawing, prototype quantity, test method, acceptance criteria, timing, ownership of tooling and drawings, and the controlled steps required before serial production.

Bearing equipment, components and inspection

Buyers sourcing a production line, upgrading a factory or assessing a supplier’s process should follow a separate route through ring processing, heat treatment, grinding and superfinishing, rolling-element production, cage and seal manufacture, cleaning, assembly, grease filling, noise and vibration measurement, dimensional inspection and automation.

Here the question is not simply whether a machine reaches a headline cycle time. Use the intended bearing family and tolerance as the reference. Ask about changeover, in-process compensation, gauging, data retention, tooling life, maintenance, local service and the point at which manual handling re-enters the process.

Identify who owns the product and the evidence

At each meeting, record the legal entity, sales entity, manufacturing entity and actual production address. A booth may represent a group containing several plants, a trading company, an authorised distributor, a specialist component maker or an equipment business. Each can be useful, but they answer different questions.

For the quoted bearing series, establish which operations are internal and which are outsourced. The important map may include steel or tube sourcing, forging, turning, heat treatment, grinding, superfinishing, rolling elements, cages, seals, assembly, lubrication and final inspection. Ask whether the displayed samples came from the proposed serial-production site and process.

Create a short evidence request for every serious candidate:

  • the exact drawing or designation and revision being quoted;
  • material, heat treatment, clearance, accuracy class, cage, seal and lubricant;
  • application calculation or selection rationale for non-standard work;
  • process flow and outsourced operations;
  • inspection plan, measurement method and relevant capability data;
  • batch identification, retained records and change-notification procedure;
  • sample, pilot and serial-production lead times.

This produces comparable files. A supplier with a polished catalogue but no clear production entity should not be scored beside a manufacturer offering application calculations and traceable process evidence as if both propositions were identical.

Choose follow-up sites according to the unanswered question

Shanghai and the nearby Yangtze River Delta contain several different bearing capabilities. Two official company profiles illustrate how appointments can serve different purposes; they are examples for route design, not endorsements, confirmed exhibitors or promises of public factory access.

Shanghai C&U: broad manufacturing and test capability

C&U states that its Shanghai base in Fengxian contains 16 bearing-manufacturing-related companies. Its published scope includes precision needle, tapered-roller, cylindrical-roller, wheel-hub, clutch and transmission bearings, low-noise motor bearings, bearing finishing and cleaning equipment, and high-precision non-contact measurement equipment. Its technical centre also describes work in vibration and noise, sealing, lubrication, life, simulation and application testing.

An appointment here would be relevant when the buyer needs to connect a product family with process equipment or test capability, or compare automotive and low-noise motor requirements within one industrial base. Confirm in advance which legal entity, workshop and technical team relate to the project; a group-level address is not evidence that every operation is performed in one building.

Schaeffler Taicang: an automotive hub-bearing benchmark

Schaeffler’s official account of its Taicang wheel-bearing line describes an integrated sequence from incoming processing to assembly, automated inspection of critical dimensions and production focused on face-spline hub bearings for new-energy vehicles. That makes Taicang a relevant appointment candidate for an automotive buyer studying hub-bearing architecture, process integration, automated control and application engineering.

It is a narrow route, not a general answer for every bearing project. Buyers seeking small motor bearings, large industrial bearings or independent sourcing alternatives would need different candidates. Access to any Schaeffler facility requires the company’s prior agreement, a defined technical purpose and appropriate confidentiality arrangements.

Follow one representative bearing through the factory

A factory visit should trace the quoted product, not tour only the cleanest equipment. Begin with the incoming material specification and lot identity. Follow ring or raceway preparation, heat treatment, grinding and superfinishing, rolling-element and cage control, cleaning, assembly, grease filling, sealing, final measurement and packing as applicable to that bearing type.

At the process stages most likely to affect the operating duty, examine the control method and records. For a low-noise motor bearing, this may mean raceway finish, cleanliness, rolling-element matching, assembly environment, grease quantity and vibration or noise grading. For a wheel-hub unit, it may include flange and spline geometry, sealing, preload or clearance, torque behaviour, sensor integration and end-of-line checks. For heavy-duty industrial service, material cleanliness, heat treatment, roller and raceway geometry, lubrication and life validation may dominate.

Select one recent production lot and reconcile the material certificate, traveller or routing record, inspection data, non-conformance history and finished label. Then ask how a change in steel source, heat-treatment subcontractor, grinding machine, cage, seal or grease would be approved and communicated. This tests whether traceability can support a real field problem rather than merely retrieve a sales order.

Build the trip around technical-team availability

The exhibition runs from Wednesday to Saturday. That timing makes pre-show or post-show appointments more practical than assuming a full production team will host a weekend visit.

For repeat purchase of standard bearings

Use the first exhibition day to compare range, production identity, availability and traceability. Return on the second day for commercial and technical clarification. Add one Shanghai-area visit only if the shortlist contains a material uncertainty that can be resolved on site.

For an OEM or non-standard application

Reserve two exhibition days for application meetings and evidence review. Use a third day to close the prototype and validation plan. Schedule one Shanghai or Taicang technical appointment before the show, or on the following Monday, with the application engineer and quality contact confirmed in advance.

For bearing-production equipment

Spend one day mapping the complete proposed line and a second day comparing the critical process or inspection cells. A follow-up should go to a reference process, demonstration centre or user site that can run a representative bearing family—not simply to the nearest sales office.

Leave Shanghai with a controlled next step

The China Bearing Fair’s distinctive value is its concentration of finished bearings, special equipment, measurement, components and lubrication in one industry-specific event. It can reveal how a proposed bearing is designed and how it may be made, but it cannot replace application data or prove that the quoted production line consistently delivers the required result.

A productive trip ends with a small number of candidates assigned to different roles: standard source, application-development partner, specialist process or equipment provider. Each should have a defined evidence request and next decision. Factory appointments then resolve the remaining manufacturing and validation questions instead of repeating the exhibition conversation in another meeting room.
