A robot welding a tidy demonstration joint can leave a fabricator with an awkward question: what happens with the parts that actually arrive at our welding station? Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting Fair 2027 gives buyers four days, 23–26 June, to discuss equipment, materials and processes at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Despite the name, this edition is in Shanghai.
For a team changing a recurring welding process or considering automation, a separate application meeting can turn show-floor suggestions into a useful next test. Fronius has a verified Shanghai contact and publishes a welding-automation offer that includes feasibility studies and test welds. It is a candidate for that conversation, not a confirmed BEW exhibitor or a guaranteed local test facility. If the trip is mainly for standard consumables or finished fabricated parts, another supplier meeting at the exhibition will often be more relevant.
Give the meeting one part and one decision
Choose a representative part family and explain the decision you need to make: improve the existing welding station, investigate mechanized handling, or assess a complete robotic cell. A difficult joint may deserve attention, but taking only an exceptional failure can steer the discussion away from normal production.
Prepare a drawing that can be shared, material and thickness information, joint preparation, photos of fit-up variation, the current production mix and the problem that matters most. For example, a cell proposal is less useful if it addresses welding speed while your team’s unresolved question is loading, positioning or changing between part variants. These are discussion inputs for the supplier’s engineers, not a welding procedure or a technical approval.
Fronius describes feasibility work on components and consideration of handling, preparation and rework. Ask which parts of that service can be discussed or performed in Shanghai. A drawing review may settle whether a later test is worth arranging; there is no need to ship parts merely to make the appointment look more substantial.
Agree what a test would actually show
If a trial is proposed, agree the sample specification, equipment, consumables, fixtures and expected observations before sending material. State which conditions represent your production and which are temporary demonstration arrangements. Confirm sample delivery, permitted documentation and any charges with the host.
For an automation discussion, ask for the proposed sequence from loading to unloading, including part changes and any preparation or rework. This makes the conversation more useful than comparing arc-on speed alone. A successful weld on one prepared sample still leaves questions about variation across the parts you intend to make; your engineering team should define the required acceptance work separately.
Also distinguish the welding-process supplier from the party responsible for the complete cell. Before requesting a project quotation, identify who would own fixtures, positioning, controls integration, safeguarding and commissioning at the destination. The application meeting should expose those interfaces, not imply that a power-source discussion has resolved the entire production system.
Confirm the Baoshan appointment before changing the show plan

Use the official enquiry route to confirm the exact meeting location, a suitable technical contact and whether the proposed session is a discussion or a test with agreed equipment. The published address does not establish walk-in access or local availability of every service on the company’s website.
Keep the SNIEC meetings that give you competing process proposals, then schedule the outside appointment around a specific unresolved question. Check the confirmed address against your departure point and actual traffic; if the transfer would displace more valuable exhibition appointments, request a show-adjacent or remote discussion instead.
Leave with a short record: what was demonstrated or only discussed, what remains to be tested, who will supply the missing information and when the next technical review can happen. That is a useful extension to BEW even when no sample is welded during the Shanghai visit.
